Console control know doesn't work

Suddenly the console control knob doesn't fully work . Works by pressing it down and works when I push it up or back or left or right. But doesn't work when I turn it to scroll, which means I can't use most of the menus.

Before replacing the control knob, I want to reset the system. I can hear and feel the detents as I move the knob, so I think it is software rather than hardware. [I remember I reset the system about six months ago, for some other other reason I don't recall.] I can navigate to the reset menu. However, I can't move the cursor left to Yes to confirm the reset. Like a Catch 22.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or is there a hard reset somewhere on the unit behind the dash? Or pulling a fuse for a while, or even disconnecting the battery?

you can find them used on ebay for under 200. or you can replace the radio with a updated android one which will negate the control console.

Thanks. I've seen the console controls. However, since I posted this, I've found that the cursor fails differently in different menus, which reinforces my view that the problem lies in the software rather than the hardware.

I made an appointment with a dealer 70 miles from my house, which includes a ferry ride each way plus plowing through Seattle metro traffic. Then I realized that Amazon called back all 55,000 remote workers once day before my trip. In other words, chaos. So I cancelled.

Guess I'll live with it if I can't find someone to hard reset the head. Not like I go on long car trips much any longer. Got a motorcycle for that.
