Consumer Reports rates Genesis as top auto brand

Elsewhere, I read that CR noted having only two cars (G89 and G90) to base evaluations on helped Genesis relative to other brands with lots of offerings. Mercedes, for example, has some low-tier models that got pretty bad ratings and pulled the overall score down. And Genesis reliability was described as "average."

But still, this is big news for Genesis. It reflects a significant achievement in a high-visibility and high-credibility outlet. It comes at a good time as the G70 approaches its entrance to the US market. If nothing else, it should get people onto Genesis lots (if they can find them). One possible adverse impact on the G70, I guess, would be if lots of people read about and end up buying the G80 based on its high marks, precluding their interest i the G70. But even then, that would be good news for Genesis and undoubtedly some people will learn about and decide to wait for a more modestly priced G70 (assuming the price ends up being "more modest," as seems highly likely).

So, good on Genesis for getting some solid cred.
