  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well this weekend as I pulled up to a hotel to check in, I got a low tire pressure warning. Got out of the car and found a cut in the sidewall of a rear tire.
At 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, I had no luck locating a replacement Conti 275/35 19. So I was stranded until Monday when a replacement tire could be found. I have no idea what road hazard caused the cut, but worse yet was upon inspecting the tire that had 16k miles on it, it was going to have to be replaced in just a few thousand miles. The tire was almost to the wear bars. Very poor wear performance for a tire with a 400 wear rating.
Got. A replacement and was on my way after paying $368.00.
These tires while quiet and comfortable, do not last long enough.
What are others using as replacements?

Using the Conti DWS06. Can't rave enough about the snow performance if that matters to you. I managed to go uphill with 6" of fresh snow without issues. Vancouver had a nasty winter last year and these tires handled it like a champ. I was about to buy winter tires but these tires convinced me it wasn't needed. Not as good as a winter tire but good enough.

But just a heads up about the car, it likes to blow tires. I blew 2 of them on pot holes already, 19" doesn't leave you with a lot of sidewall. Because of the AWD, I had to replace all 4 with the first blow out.

Replaced the original tires during recall campaign at 1800 miles with Michelin MXM4 (Michelin was my favorite brand), and these only lasted 22,000 miles. Replaced them last month with Continental Control Contact Sport. So far love the tire. Not sure if the car eats tires or I just had a bad set of Michelin's. I'm a pretty conservative driver and my Genesis is RWD.

OEM mxm4 primacy Michelins barely made 20k with me. I changed them out with YK 740 (a discount tire model made by Yoko). _Extremely quiet_ (they can make weird noises on some surfaces, but not loud), handle much better in turns, much better in the rain, haven't had to do any emergency stops. The cons are that it has a higher load rating and stiffer sidewalls, hence the ride is very slightly degraded from the softie marshmallow Michies. If a Michie doesn't say Pilot, I say no. I am driving in Houston and probably hitting a lot of hazards (nails and fasteners) due to Harvey, and no problems so far. The stiff sidewalls and my driving style means I have to add air more often. Overall, they are an excellent tire for this car.
