If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All
I got my Hankooks replaced with Continentals as part of our well known tire recall for 2015 Genesis sedan
About 3000 miles later I couldn't help start noticing how soft and wobbly the ride had become! It reminds me a lot of my previous 2013 R-Spec which was bouncing pretty much all the time.
The ride I had before on Hankooks was so much firmer and better.
Do you guys experience the same issue with your new tires?
Thanks

What is the exact model of Continental tire you had installed?

Not everyone gets the same tires as result of recall, and it could be that in Canada, some people got tires that are good in cold weather, but not so good in warmer weather.

The Continentals are definitely a softer ride...

I have around 3300 miles on my Contis and no complaints.
Which ones? Continental makes more than 25 different tires, many with the word "Conti" in them. They are not all the same.

Has anyone ran Toyos or Nitto on the stock 19's? curious to hear the reviews..

All the V8 owners in north America got the same Continental tires. Pro Contact TX. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...r=2015&autoModel=Genesis Sedan&autoModClar=V8 That being said, I really like mine and prefer them to the Hankooks. Only issue is I preferred the considerably wider rear tires on the Hankooks but I guess it is only looks.

I have the Continental Procontact TX, and while they seem softer I wouldn't describe them as wobbly. I recommend checking your tire pressure. I can feel a difference in the ride when they're just a couple of pounds low.

Mine are Continental ProContact Tx. The tire pressure is set by the book-36 psi all around.
While they are quieter than Hankook the side wall seem to be a lot softer hence the wobbly ride over uneven road pavement.
Which tires offer a firm and quiet ride for our cars? Please chime in

Amen -- Sounds like a tire pressure problem. The Conti's have worked perfect for me.

After considerable research and two rather lengthy conversations with a Hankook CS manager, I've decided to replace (when the time comes) mine with the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06.
Has anyone else gone this route? And if so, what has been your experience with this tire?

Yes, I've got those on my car now. Handling-wise they ride more like the Hankook's, but honestly are a tad louder than the Hankooks too. They sure stick though; perhaps it's due to my wider tires, but my car stays glued to the road in both wet and dry conditions.

I liked the Hankook one for the larger profile and they hooked better... Pro TX here and didn't care for them only rode them for about 700 miles the got new wheels and tires... So I can't comment to much but the Hankook hooked alot better

I have those on my car. Have only had them on for a month now. No complaints at all though.

Were you replacing the Hankooks?
also
Did you have, or do you now have any vibration issues?

Yes I was replacing the stock Hankooks because of the recall. Here's a link to my post about how to get the Continental tires that we are talking about for free: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showpost.php?p=213891&postcount=167

With the Hankooks I did have minor vibration issues because of the flat-spotting but it always went away after a couple of miles. I haven't noticed any such issue with the Conti's but they also haven't ever been as cold as the Hankooks because I had those on in the winter and just switched to the Conti's when the weather has been nice. Regardless, I did a bunch of research prior to getting the recalled Hankooks replaced and the best overall tire from users of this site as well as reviews on tire websites pointed towards the ExtremeContact DWS 06's.

They should be free - they are less cost than the ProContact TX's. They should give you a credit for the difference.

Those of us with AWD/V6 (here in the states) never have had the ProContact TX's.

Our OEM tires were these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...17588969&ef_id=Va6rLgAABVqUj:20160601174755:s

It's a significant upgrade and nice that we're able to get them for free, if you know what you're doing. Plus I got them during a promotional period so I actually got a $70 Visa gift card too.

Maybe we are talking about two different things:

On the V6 model, the OE Hankook's were offered to be replaced by the MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4. On the V8, the offer was a replacement with CONTINENTAL PROCONTACT TX. Both of those Hyundai offered tire replacements cost more than the CONTINENTAL EXTREME CONTACT DWS 06 being discussed.

Yeah I was specifically talking about the V6 tire situation since that's what jsmit's profile says he has, like me. I know the V8 owners situation is different.

From mostly all accounts the Michelin tire that Hyundai dealers would switch out from the Hankook's with are rated lower by tire websites. Also the general consensus in threads on this board was the ExtremeContact DWS 06's were a better tire regardless of the fairly small cost difference between the two.
