If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has put these tires on their Genesis Sedan? I know these cars can be sensitive to tires so I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these. They are rated very well on tire rack and I live in WI so I was hoping to get a good all-season tire. I was hoping to not have to put winter tires on. The goodyears I have on it now are terrible in the snow. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I put the 'Pure Contacts' on our '10. They have done great, handle good dry and wet, but have not driven in the snow with them. After 31K, they still are riding good and quiet. Not familiar with the 'True Contacts'. Good luck with them, though.

I also had a set of the Pure Contacts on my last car and they were great. Handled the Chicago snow with ease!

Good to hear, thank you for your input. I love the car! I drive 200 miles a day so I'm hoping to get at least 200k out of this Genesis :)

Had another rotation today for my "Pure Contacts" and they're down to 5/32 with close to 40K on them. They still ride great, and are still quiet, but a while back I had a vibe at around 80. Discount Tire finally had to do some sort of 'sensitive' balance on the, but they're pretty good, but not perfect. They said it was because they're starting to wear. Don't think I believe they're worn with 5 left, but we'll ride them anyway.

Finally changed out the Pure Contacts after 65K. I could've gotten more, but we hit something on the expressway and damaged one, so we changed them all. These tires were still as quiet as the first day they were on the car. They handled great. The only problem was about the last 15K, I had a small vibe at 80 that the guys at Discount Tire couldn't find. That tells me it was probably something in a tire and not the balance. I should have insisted they replace one at a time until the bad one was found. But, we aren't on long trips very often, so we just lived with it. Michelin Premier LTX. I can already tell you that these will be replaced very soon. The sidewalls feel soft and the car wallows around, and you're always fighting the wheel. I did have an alignment done, and it didn't help. Don't know what's next, yet.

The Michelin Premier LTX is a crossover/SUV/pickup tire which is totally wrong for a sedan like the genesis.

I had a set in mine and promptly ditched them for a set of BF Goodrich G Force Comp2 s.

kg4pto, you are correct. That's what the Michelin online chat person said. She told me the, think I'm right, the Premier A/S was the correct tire. She obviously didn't pay attention to my size, as the Discount Tire guys said it wasn't made in my size. After the 200 miles, now we're trying the Primacy MXM4. It handles much better than the Premier LTX, but it still is a pain just trying to keep the car straight. I think when it's over, I'll go back to the Pure Contact. It handled great. It's not listed at my Discount Tire, so I don't know if they quit making it, or it just has to be ordered. I can't stand a tire with soft sidewalls that wallow around on the road like these Michelins.

That's what I put on my Genesis. I hated the OEM Dunlop tires and replaced them at 15,000 miles. I drive very little since semi retiring 4 years ago and only have 28,800 mile on the car. The tires are wonderful. Quiet and smooth riding.

Never use the Genesis in the snow. I have an AWD Tucson that I use in inclement weather.

OK, I tried the Michelin Primacy MXM4, and they were a lot better than the LTXs, but still didn't drive like a Genesis is supposed to. On straight, smooth roads, I still had to constantly correct. Today, I had the guys at Discount Tire put another set of the Continental Pure Contacts back on. Wow, we have our Genesis back. A long time ago, I decided Michelin didn't make a good tire for a big car, but did for small cars. After many years, I tried the Michelins, and found I should have stayed with my instincts. Looking for another 65-70K from the Contis.
