  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings all!

Just have a couple of questions regarding the GV80.

For the drivers who use it as a daily commuter, was there any reliability or technical issues?

Has anyone had any issues with the large 22 inch wheels? (Am considering the Advanced edition since it has an inch smaller) I just don't think big wheels are good at all especially with San Diego crappy roads.

Also, if anyone bought a GV80 from San Diego, CA any dealer recommendations?

Coming from a 2016 Mazda CX-5.... so yeah hopefully a nice upgrade.

Thanks in advance for any replies to my post ^^;

Can't answer #1, as I don't commute--I'm retired! No issues though.
The Advanced and Advanced Plus ride on 20" tires, the Prestige on 22". I totally agree with you, though--22's would be far harsher! (and more expensive when it'd time to replace)

I love my Advanced Plus

As for the big wheels, a number of folks share your views on oversized wheels and low profile tires. But you can always buy the Prestige, sell the stock wheels/tires and buy aftermarket 19" or 20". You might even come out ahead, as those big wheels/skinny tires are expensive.

Didn't think of that although I guess that would void the warranty so probably after warranty ends(?)

My GV80 is a daily commuter. 50-60 miles / day on the LA freeways. 22" wheels, at the appropriate psi, feel just fine to me. Smooth ride. Has never felt harsh. Coming from your CX 5 (nice car in and of itself) the GV80 will feel heavenly.

In my wife's audi Q7, we switch out 22" wheels for summer and 20" for our winter trips to the snow. I would not say there is a significant difference. I would have a hard time passing a blind test. Could that mean I just don't have the sensitivity to make that differentiation? It's possible.

I don't see why! Check with your dealer. Just possible they have an Advanced buyer or owner that wants 22's. Dealer could then swap, pay you a difference amount, make service $$$, and all would be happy AND--covered under warranty as both have Genesis wheels.

21 prestige ! 12k miles o issues . 22 tires proper psi veh feels fine overall 10/10 aside from the Poor local mpg and premium fuel costs thanks to Biden

Per the 22” wheels:
Friend of mine just bought a new Lincoln Navigators, Plug in Hybrid with 22” Wheels.

I now call him a “BIG WHEEL”! 😇

I spoke with the finance guy at my dealership and went over the contracts with him. The base contract covers you regardless of whether r not you use stock wheels or aftermarket wheels of supported dimensions.

When you buy the wheel and rim insurance, it is tied to the VIN of the car. I told him that I wanted to trade my prestige wheels for either stock wheels off of an Advanced or buy a set of 20" wheels to use for winter. He said that both options would cover damage to tires or rims.

Thanks for the replies all, mainly now trying to look/review which two Hyundai dealerships near me is the lesser evil. :'D

I am looking to TRADE WHEELS. I have 22 inch wheels with 4,000 miles. The wheels are in perfect shape. I like the 20 inch wheels better. Is there anyone wanting 22 inch wheels and want to make a trade. I live in Western North Carolina.

I am looking for 20 inch wheels (trade my 22 inch wheels with 4,000 miles). The wheels are in perfect shape. However, I live in NC. Shipping might be costly.
