  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I read over the CPO for Hyundai is only for powertrain. How about bumper to bumper or electricals?

They are offering a Portfolio Protection Exclusionary Coverage for $1295 10y/10K mi.

Since the car is CPO's they are offering to exclude the Powertrain BUT add these to be covered:

Engine cooling
A/C
Front suspension
Steering
Fuel system
factory installed Nav
Brakes
Electrical
Electrical High Tech components
Electrical Plus, power motors and solenoids related to antenna, door locks, seats mirrors trunk release power headlight motors.

So....A CPO'd Hyundai has 10y/10K powertrain and must pass PPI. But not bumper to bumper.

Can anyone shed any light, should I not get the Portforlio Protection coverage.

I am definitely getting GAP protection.

Thanks

Get the extended! I opted to NOT get the CPO and just get the extended on it because it covered everything including powertrain and NAV. If you have the tech package, spend the money on the warranty. One warranty visit for any NAV related expense will pay for it 3 times over

CPO hyundai dealer Genesis, the full remaining warranty transfers with the new owner. Depending on the mileage, the 5/60 bumper to bumper and the powertrain warranty applies (minus tech equipment)

Get the extended, but I suggest you do your DD on the warranty company.

I went with the PPI because it covers items that fail from wear and tear not just defective manufactured items. After 5yr/60k miles the only thing covered on the powertrain is whats inside the engine and transmission, anything bolted on is not covered. Mine was a 10' CPO with 19k on the clock.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong, I just got my Genny last week.

I wouldn't put that warranty money on an '09, I would put it toward a newer model with more free warranty coverage.

Also keep in mind that the older the car, the shorter the term and fewer the miles you can get. i.e, the Fidelity Platinum warranty is for 10 years/100K miles on a new car, but fewer years and fewer miles on a used car - but the price remains the same.

OP, you will never get a straight answer IMHO.

Being Jewish, I know a thing or two about money and how to make the best of it. The CPO was not worth it when you factor in that the electronics warranty is already expired. You are paying a CPO price for only 1 more year of bumper to bumper and 6 more years of powertrain....
