  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was recently reviewing some crash test video of another make of automobile
and came across these test videos of the second generation Genesis.

I did a search and don't recall seeing them being previously posted on this forum.
Kind of painful to watch... :bugout:

Damn, that last video of the side hit... The genesis took it like a champ!

In the small overlap test you can see in the slo-mo that the front wheel crumbles along with the rest of the structure, leaving the driver's door mostly intact. In the same test below (for example) the mustang's wheel does not deform much and causes more damage to the driver's door.

I wonder if the stock wheels are part of Hyundai's crash protection design (perhaps a response to the relatively new small overlap tests), and if so, are there aftermarket wheels designed to do the same thing? If not then by changing wheels we may be unknowingly taking on additional injury risk in an accident.

Yes, and de-tuning the tweaks done by Lotus. I cannot understand why anyone would de-tune the suspension of a Genesis. The rigid collars I get (no one has yet to mention whether road noise has increased), but springs and wheels, NO.

I am always skeptical of easy "fixes" like rigid collars. If they make such a difference then why didn't Hyundai just put them on to begin with? Especially on a car like the Genesis which competes with some legendary makes and models. I would like to see some measured proof of their positive effects on the car.
