  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys, I had an accident tonight while leaving my office. Had a few items in hand as I entered my Genny, and some how I lost grip and lost these items in the crevasse of the cup-holder lid. Naturally I got my flashlight and tried to fish it out with an ink pen---sadly I only pushed the items further in and now they aren't visible.

Can someone please post a dyi center armrest or cup-holder disassembly tutorial.

I appreciate the effort Bill. I was opening Hyundai had a technicians manual of some sort. I've scoured our forums to see if anyone else has done it -- I'd hate to pay the dealership hundreds of dollars to just to remove this thing so I can get my stuff.

That is the only thing I hate about the Genny, VERY TIGHT places to lose your stuff. my remote fell out of my pocket and went down next to seatbelt. MAN i was cussing. It is just made tooooo tight. I may invest into one of these:

I know that does not help cup holder...LOL

@OneFunGenesis Which file should i go for ? I'm not familiar with this file extension either. Can't wait to see what these are.

@Ambush lol God knows a lot of change has fallen under the seat! and I can't even get my hand in any of the spaces to reach them.. *SIGH*

There are pictures as far I can see...Just download the whole thing, extract it using winrar (shareware) or 7zip (freeware) ...there will be a bunch of files with *.swf extensions. If you use Google Chrome then drag and drop a single file into window and you'll see.

Thank you for the prompt reply to this. That procedure will work flawlessly. They are a weird file format though but they work haha

I have pretty much the same problem, though for me, it's an entire cell phone that somehow slid behind the cup holder tray. No idea how that was even possible, but it was. After taking a look at the manual, it looks a lot more involved than I had hoped to just remove the cup holder lid. I'll probably take it in for service and pay instead, even though it's really annoying.

Scared to think what they will charge you for this. It isn't that hard, just need to know the process.

Pop off trim around lower part of cd-player or entertainment stuff on dash above gear shifter. (Use a plastic trim removal tool or thin flat head screwdriver with electrical tape on the end.)
Remove shift knob by pulling upward really really hard
Pop trim off around gear shifter (Use a plastic trim removal tool or thin flat head screwdriver with electrical tape on the end.)
Disconnect one or two connectors (12V cig lighter and light?)
Remove two bolts near the back and two up front on inside edge.
Pop off bottom cover inside glovebox to reveal 4 bolts
Remove the 4 bolts
Lift up and disconnect sensors
Find Cell Phone

May have missed a step but that's all from memory.
There are pics on my photobucket page of all this.

Did you find a solution to remove the item, or to remove the cup holder assembly?
