  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all, I have a few questions for you Genesis owners...My friend just bought a 2010 2.0T Genesis Coupe, and I want to help him mod his car, but I know little about turbos and nothing about Hyundai. The main thing I want to ask is if there is some sort of handheld ECU tuner for the Genesis. I have a mustang and the way it works for me is I have a handheld tuner that I load tunes on from a shop and program my vehicle (tune for aftermarket CAI, exhaust, etc) Is there something similar for the Genesis? If there is, can anyone link me to a place to buy them?

Much Appreciated!

There is but it's not like the super chips that most cars use. The best thing to do in my opinion is to go to a Dyno shop and get it tuned there.

I have a 2010 3.8 Track which I had "reflashed" by a company called PowerAxel; they are now out of business. There are a couple other companies called SFR and BTRcc; you can check into them or wait for Mike from DiabloSport, Inc. and see what he comes up with! :D

I have a 2010 gen coupe. I had SFR tune my 2.0. HUGE difference in the car after the tune, and that is just the stage 1 canned tune. Big increase in throttle response, way less turbo lag, more boost from the tiny turbo, increase in gas mileage (well, increase once you get used to the tune and keep your foot off the throttle lol).

If you want the most out of your car, custom tune from BTRcc. Get a full turbo back exhaust, a good fmic, injectors. You know, basic bolt ons. Then give them the car, and let them work their magic. You will NOT be disappointed. Unless you use your cruise control alot. You will lose it if you go with 1:1 throttle response. But, cruise is for weak lazy drivers anyways. You have a turbo...USE IT! lol

I have a 2013 2.0 rspec and I'm interested in 300HP (or a bit more). What are the names of reputable companies to get the:
1. "full turbo back exhaust" (I assume you're talking a cat back exhaust? Which system do you use? If you weredoing it again, would you buy the same one? If not, which exhaust system would you get?).
2. "a good fmic" (What company and part number or number?).
3. "injectors" (Again, what company and part numbers?).

Anything else you recomend?

....Annnnnnnd, has anyone else noticed that shifting is "notchy"? What do you recommend for that?

Thank you for your recomendations and advice,

Charles

1; turbo back exhaust means exactly that. Right front the turbo all the way back. Go custom. Dont ever buy exhaust kits. Most is cheap metals, and poor welds. Plus, get a warranty claim from someone on the other sideof the planet...

2; for the fmic, there is alot of good companies out there. AEM, depo racing, ultimate racing, Greddy, vibrant. Its just a matter of choice and moneys you have available.

3; injectors, go with dethwerks. 500 or 550cc. But with the injectors, you will need a custom tune done on the dyno. That ranges anywhere from 600-1000. Otherwise, you will run into hot start and/or cold start issue, and not realise the full potential of the injectors.

And yes, the tranny is notchy, especially when its cold. Hyundai gave us the shittiest trannys and clutches known to man. You can change the fluid though. It does help. Think it its 90w70 oil. Please dont quote me on that though. Check out Genesis Coupe.com. TONS of info there about every single nut and bolt of the car.

Hope that helps.
