In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi guys,

Is there anyone who has put on custom set of wheels besides Dereck? I am thinking to do it but need some good suggestions on wheel brands, models, and their sizes...

1. What is typical costs?

2. Do I purchase it from Amazon etc. or do it in the store?

3. Do you have to put on new tires on these wheels?

4. I see that the custom wheels do not have genesis logo on the hub. Does it mean I will have to live with that?

I responded to you PM :)

There's quite a few of us here that have custom wheels, usually accompanied by lowering springs/coilovers to complete the look.

Price varies depending on what exactly you want. I suggest doing research into what's out there. Examples of what our members run - Velgen, Vossen, TSW, Zenetti (me), Infinite Werks, and others. Go on to a wheel website and see for yourself what looks the best, they have wheel configurators.

Wheel types - Cast, Rotary Forged, Full Forged

Cast - Will be the cheapest, that's your OEM wheel basically. They're also the cheapest to purchase and the heaviest.

Rotary Forged - Middle ground between cast and full forged. You're getting the strength of a forged wheel, but at a reasonable price since the face will be cast.

1, 2, 3 piece forged wheels - Expensive! Super lightweight and the strongest wheels you can buy. Most people (myself) who are on a budget but want forged wheels will often choose 2 piece forged wheels. My Zenetti Venice wheels are 2 piece forged. 1 piece and 3 piece forged wheels can run you north of $4K+ depending.

I purchased mine at a reputable wheel shop, also had upgraded tires as well since OEM tires will not fit. My setup is staggered, 20x9 upfront, 20x10.5 rear, Sumitomo HTRZ III tires 255/35/20 upfront, 285/30/20 in the rear.

The Zenetti center cap is twice the size of the OEM Genesis wing caps to give you an idea.

I LOVE my setup, took me a few months but I found it :) don't rush into this man, wheels/tires are expensive. I always recommend plastidip to change the color of your OEM wheels if you want to go with a different color. Kind of like a trial period before you commit. Plastidip can be peeled right off (if you prep correctly) and will stay on for many years if taken care of.

Here are some pictures taken by professional photographer Dareckibmw :D thanks brotha!

There are definitely a bunch of us running custom wheels. Personally, I'm running TSW Bathursts. They are 20" rotary forged. I got 20x9 square because I'm a cheap mofo and like to rotate my tires, especially since I'm lowered. But if you don't care about rotating, a staggered setup is definitely the way to go as it makes the car look eleventy point eight billion times more aggressive.

P.S. Everyone who has responded in this thread has an empire state gray Genesis. How funny!

Wish I could join you guys in Cali.....with my Genesis, of course :p

It was my pleasure meeting your Wife and You last week, tho ;)

HAHA! I forgot the color cause all I see now are those sick ass wheels! But you're right. We need to go to Ark and ask them wtf is up with these exhausts. I went to a meet last week and my car was the quietest car rolling in. I felt like I was driving a hybrid it was so silent.

Did you guy notice any improvement in terms of ride and handling quality when going from 19 inch to 20 inch lower profile tires?

Haha thanks bro, got my inspiration from the best :D but yea the genny is way too quiet. I don't know how much longer I can hold out for Ark. Tempted to get a custom setup. Only meets here are either 1 - classic cars or 2 - Honda/Mustang meets.

Ride was almost OEM like at first. I got lowered first on the OEM wheel and tires. Was complaining to Reggie (Rloyola) about the squishy steering. Once I upgraded to my current setup, the handling and ride changed significantly. Steering was tighter, more feedback, car was quicker and gripped a lot better. Downside, you can literally feel everything on the road...if you're willing to sacrifice ride quality for looks and performance, do what a few of us here did :D go balls out...or you can always just upgrade the wheels and tires only without lowering it. Should help with the ride quality.
