  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
Title. He said the DH (2nd gen) feels more cramped inside like it has less space and feels more like a compact car compared to a full size sedan like the 1st gen BH. Also, he said it feels less solid overall and feels cheaper and flimsier.

Granted, the BH first gen we have is a fully loaded 4.6 V8, and the 2015 I have is a 3.8 tech. I think some of it may have to do with the v8s being more front heavy, but then again, that doesn't the answer about the interior space.

Also, he said it feels cheaper, more like a honda or acura interior. I'm wondering if it's that terrible looking faux wood trim compared to the leather trim in the BH sedan.

he said though he still thinks the 2nd gen is better in a lot of ways. And also he said the 2018 G90 5.0 is much superior to both in terms of space and quality.

Thoughts?

Honestly, I think the 2nd gen is overall a much better car in terms of quality, interior, solidity, and driving experience compared to the 1st gen BH.

Hey everyone is entitled to their opinion. I test drove both a 4.6 BH Genesis and my current 2015 DH 5.0 Genesis Ultimate. No contest in favor of the DH . Both are nice cars, but the 2015+ Genesis/G80 models are much better feeling in all aspects in my opinion.

Plus every used BH model I looked at had peeling sharp edged metal plating on the interior door handles that can cut you. Turn me off the used BH models as it seem pretty common.

That still doesn’t explain why the DH feels tighter on the inside than the BH. I actually do think the DH is actually a little more compact feeling inside. Especially the passenger seat and back seats feel like their more cramped in the 2nd gen than the 1st gen.

Of course the BH is more spacious feeling inside. Every vehicle has different pros and cons. What’s to debate?

Personally I like the DH seats with inflatable side boasters and extendable thigh support as in my 2015 5.0 Ultimate more so than the BH models I tested without those features. I do not really like cars with large spacious interiors, so the DH interior feels perfect to me for my driving needs. I keep my side boasters inflated to hug me in my seat.

I rarely use my back seats, but I thought that the DH is supposed to be more spacious than the outgoing BH model.

Overall an BH does not hold a candle to the DH models when fully equipped(5.0 ultimate package) in my opinion in terms of ride comfort and styling. Just my opinion.
