  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Genesis GV70
I'm in the UK and have a GV70 Sport, delivered new in March'22.

All of the dark Chrome trims on the doors of my GV70 have faded and are showing stain like marks, which looks terrible.

The car is only hand washed using Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash so the staining is not from car wash chemicals.

Genesis UK are not at all interested in the issue and don't appear to want to replace the affected trims under warranty, which is really concerning.

I recall some members on this forum had the same problems with dark Chrome trim and wonder, did Genesis replace the defective trims under warranty?

Any help would be appreciated as this issue is making me consider getting shot of my GV70, which after waiting 6 months for a factory order is really annoying.

Genesis doesn’t consider that to be a replaceable item under the warranty. They’d sent out a service bulletin to the all or some of the service departments directing them to inform customers to instead purchase some rubbing compound by 3M and use that as directed. I’ve used it and it works perfectly. It’s a tad bit time consuming, but worth it compared to the stains and tarnished look. The product is 3M 36060 Perfect It Ex Rubbing compound. I’m not sure of how much it‘ll cost you in the UK.

@carljr101 thanks for this info.

Never had a problem with trim on previous cars, including Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Range Rover and not even on the Maserati I owned.

Not good for a supposed prestigious brand!

Yeah I’ve never had that problem either. It is a bit of a bummer since it is considered a luxury SUV/CUV, but I can live with it.😊

Mercedes also had this issue with some of their models. My detailer told me once he saw mine.

Not all luxury brands are perfect.

Anyway, dealer took care of the trim and its looking brand new, never had the issue again.

My trim on the Himalaya Matt paint Became discolored and was replaced by the dealer but now it’s pure chrome trim which doesn’t match anything else on the car !!!

scratch my head at the inability to get competent service…
