  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dark chrome trim

I don't like going to the dealer even for free oil changes. If replacement trim ends up spotting as well then forget it. I keep looking at black out trim kits on Amazon but every time I decide nah it'll just go back at lease end like it is.

My 2021 G70 came off the showroom floor with the dark chrome trim around the windows already looking bad. Got a due bill for them to be replaced. Service guy called and said Genesis wants them to try buffing and polishing. Taking it in this Monday. We'll see how this goes. 🤨🤞
Update...
Dealer polished the trim and as expected the pieces lightened up and aren't much darker than the regular chrome trim. New molding has been ordered and all the pieces are in except one. Still waiting to hear when it comes in.

As I mentioned in another thread... the grill is fine, however, some of the trim molding around the windows, some good, some bad. Dealer is waiting for some polish from Genesis to see if that works. Expecting like others to eventually receive all new trim.
just had mine done it takes the dark finish off completely, they ordered new dark ones,

No issues yet (22) but I am keeping a coat of black ice hybrid on it for sure after seeing this pic.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You’re lucky. I’m hoping the only one is the left rear.
I just wish they would have installed PFP on the grille surround got chips on it already.
All 4 window trims in mine are faded and look awful - forgot to mention to our dealer last time she went for her oil change - will do

I would love if they would let me have the replacements first then I would have them painted.

According to a Auto Detailer I know, its what the Trim is made out of that is the problem. Its really just Cheap Plastic with some chrome/bronze looking plating on them. He said he had the same issue on his Hellcat and just wrapped the pieces.

I'm in the research phase of having all of my Trim pieces wrapped as I've already had them replace both sides. The car runs like a top and I have had 0 issues with it mechanically otherwise.

I may wait until the 2023 cars are announced and see if i want to upgrade or just wrap......

The trim pieces are not plastic FYI, but the finish is cheaply applied.

Hi my 2 months old 2022 g70 is showing highly damaged trims. Rerported to dealer. One car in the showroom is already showing signs of damage. Hopefully new trims will be ordered. Love the rest of the car close to 2k miles. Btw, trims were ceramic coated 2 days after pick up. Looked closely and it's like a plastic/rubber film in top of the regular stainless trim to give that darker look. My 2018 stinger had the same problem.
