  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I installed a Redtiger F7N dashcam using the dongar adapter to tap into the rearview mirror power.
While it works great, it unfortunately turns off when the Idle Stop and Go kicks in while driving.

Will hardwiring prevent it from turning off?
I also read around that Vantrue dashcams don't turn off even when ISnG is on. (if someone could confirm this)
I'm thinking about asking my local dealer for hardwiring as I'm having to go anyway to get my windows tinted.
Thanks!

Yes. A hardwire kit will stopbthis. As for the ISnG being disabled I do beleave the camera will stay on.

It's weird because I found out it doesn't always go out. Maybe about 50% of the time.

Anyway I'm just gonna write this down for people to refer to when they want to hardwire their own dashcams.
I went to my local genesis dealer and they declined to install it because it wasn't their own brand and didn't want to mess with it.
So I ended up doing my own research and hardwiring it.

1. Redtiger F7NP will turn off with Idle Stop and Go.
2. 2023 G80 2.5T uses micro 2 (ATR) fuses.
3. 2 Fuse taps, 2 spare fuses 10A or less needed.
4. I had to ground the blackwire onto a hexagonal bolt, the only metallic surface on the side panel of the driver's seat fuse box. (Other bolts didn't work for me at least.)
5.Plug in locations of the fuse taps - 10A Presafety seatbelt for ACC ( - +) . Spare (B+) 10A for BATT (+ -).

I ended up buying a crimper, extra fuses, fuse taps and a cuircuit tester.
Plus 2-3 hours of installing and wire hiding, although I feel like I could finish it all in an hour if I were to do it again.
