If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
I just bought a used 2015 Genesis 5.0 and I took it to the dealership to get it inspected to make sure everything looked okay.

Dealer says everything is fine but I have a performance chip (tied into engine harness and controlled exhaust flap)???

I was under the impression they don’t make performance chips for the 2015 Genesis 5.0?!! Am I wrong?? Any ideas about this and should I consider taking it off??

Ask him to show you them take some pics and share here

It's probably not a performance chip, you may have a MAP-activated exhaust cutout installed.

I will next time I go in

If that’s the case you think it’d be possible to get control of those cutouts? And how would I go about it?

Would need pictures of what the dealer says is a performance chip and exhaust valve.

Climb under your car and take a look at the exhaust system. You should see the cut out with the motor attached to it to open and close it

OP, this is a long-shot, but you wouldn't by chance be from Arkansas would you? I met up with an owner from there who had one of these installed. His car was white, btw.

Car came from NJ initially, shipped to Cali. I bought it in Cali and now I’m in Arizona

You were right! Looks to be QTP exhaust cutouts. Question is how do I get access to them?

Follow those wires sticking out of them.
And is it just me or did they cut off the remaining exhaust from the secondary cats to the mufflers?
How did that ever pass inspection in California?

I have no idea.. was an older lady that had it before so I really don’t know haha! But any idea how I can open them? Am I gonna have to buy a remote or is there a way to connect from my phone? I tried calling the company but no one responds

The secondary cats are still there.

The module up in the engine bay may be a Bluetooth controller. But the standard QTP system involves a toggle switch stuck somewhere, check glove box, left fuse panel and maybe the 12v outlet area under radio.

It’s odd they left the resonators in with cutouts. Makes a very flat sounding exhaust note. I would have swapped them for an X-pipe.

Update:
I found a piece, what I think might be the transmitter?

It was down in the left corner next to the brake and gas pedals.

I opened up the fuse box and it looks like it runs through there as well. Still don’t see any switch. Pictures posted.

Anyone think they can figure this out?

Edit: After looking into it more, that piece in the picture is the controller/transmitter for the wireless remotes. Without the remotes I’m not sure if I’d have to install a whole new transmitter or what..
