  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Therefore, Tameron Hyundai of Birmingham Alabama has refused to work on my car for a sunroof rattle and some pretty bad brake judder. Thoughts?

It seems to me, Kia / Hyundai's issues start with the dealer network, which is unequivocally shitty.

Digging into the warranty, Genesis basically allows themselves enough wiggle room to not repair anything.

See highlights below. These items are EXCLUSIONS:

Repairs covered by the Genesis New Vehicle Limited Warranty or any other warranty applicable to the CPO Vehicle pursuant to the Warranty Information or by Service Campaigns or Recall Campaigns. Damage resulting from lack of required maintenance (failures caused by the owner neglecting to perform the required maintenance services set forth in the maintenance schedule of the Vehicle Manufacturer’s Owner’s Manual for the CPO Vehicle) or from use of improper or insufficient fuel, fluids or lubricants. Service adjustments and cleaning. Standard transmission clutch assemblies and all component parts. Repairs needed to any engine, transmission or final drive components caused by an aftermarket-installed turbocharger/ supercharger. Normal deterioration or wear of any part, including, but not limited to, spark plugs, worn brake pads/linings, worn clutch linings, filters, worn wiper blades, bulbs and fuses, and other wear and consumable items. Repairs necessary as a result of damage or unreasonable use (damage from road hazards or elements, accident, theft, water/flooding, fire or other casualty, misuse, abuse, negligence, racing, or failure caused by modifications, tampering, improper repair or parts not authorized by or supplied by Genesis). Use of improper or insufficient fuel, fluids or lubricants. Use of parts other than Genesis Genuine Parts, or parts of non-equivalent quality and design. Any device and/or accessories not supplied by Genesis. Modifications, alterations, tampering or improper repair. Parts or accessories used in applications for which they were not designed or not approved by GMA. Tires (See separate tire manufacturer’s warranty). Action of road elements (sand, gravel, dust or road debris) which results in stone chipping of paint and glass. Costs of routine maintenance services or items are not covered. Repairs needed to a Covered Component caused by the failure of a non-Covered Component. Slight irregularities not recognized as affecting quality or function of the vehicle or parts, such as slight noise or vibration, or items considered characteristic of the CPO Vehicle. Repairs to the CPO Vehicle if the odometer is altered, broken or repaired/replaced so that the actual mileage cannot be determined. The CPO Vehicle has been totaled, salvaged or branded after purchase. Ineligible vehicles include vehicles used for a Prohibited Commercial Purpose. Coverage for services for snow tires, repair to studs, mounting or demounting of snow chains, and any fines, fees or taxes associated with impound towing as a result of any actual or alleged violation of any law or regulation. Vehicles manufactured or distributed for sale outside of the 50 United States or Washington, D.C. Vehicles not certified by an authorized Genesis dealer under the CPO Vehicle Program. Repairs to the CPO Vehicle performed outside of the 50 United States or Washington D.C. and repairs required as a result of normal vehicle operation outside of the 50 United States or Washington D.C. Damage resulting from acts of war and terror, riots, and acts of any governmental agency. Damage from the environment (airborne “fallout,” industrial fall-out, acts of God, chemicals, acid rain, tree sap, salt, hail, windstorm, lightning, road hazards, etc.). Damage by rodents or any other damage not resulting from defects in material or workmanship. To the extent allowed by law, loss of use of the CPO Vehicle including loss of time, inconvenience, commercial loss and incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you.

I'd see a different dealer. The sunroof should be on them. The brakes, could be the driver, could be something else but they should at least determine the problem.

Unfortunately, one of the reasons many of us considered, and ultimately purchased, a Genesis was its long warranty. We’re now starting to see a pattern in terms of the various dealers and their treatment of owners and their vehicles under warranty claims. It’s disappointing, to say the least.

I experienced one of the classical “we can’t duplicate the problem” excuses in a rattle with the plastic surrounding my gear selector. Funny thing is, I never *don’t* experience this rattle. Videos, etc., don’t help to support my case. I suppose I could drive it to the dealership 45 minutes away, but then what good is the concierge service? Besides, they’d still find an excuse to not repair it, or at least, repair it correctly.

I’ve owned other luxury vehicles, and even non-luxury vehicles, where the dealership made warranty repairs, no questions asked. Shouldn’t that be how Genesis ought to treat its customers if it aspires to be a luxury brand? And, if they don’t, why should anyone buy a Genesis?

Right on my friend, Genesis as a corporation has yet to figure out the Luxury game in terms of the MOST important aspects - service! You can make the world's best moustrap, but nobody will buy it if it comes with a complete lack of support from corporate Genesis.

CASE IN POINT: Most other car makes have representatives in popular vehicle forums as part of their social media outreach, and the recognition that the user is #1, and they must go where the product user lives in order to interact, and push their brand forward by being responsive to the consumer. Where is Genesis on this forum? Or any other Genny forum? Genesis seems to think they can sell the car, but not service it, or certainly not service it to the level that is expected of a luxury brand. I don't know what is going on with them at a corporate level, but it's not good. I feel it may be 5-10 years - if the Genesis brand lasts that long - before they settle into their own dealerships, and start treating customers appropriately.

Sending people to the local Hyundai place to deal with Hyundai levels of service is not working Genesis.

I am a new Genesis owner and definitely seeing signs of an absentee corporate owner. We walked out of the first dealer and our second dealer is trying, but not really impressed yet. We have owned and currently own many luxury brands, Porsche, Merc, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Jaguar and Infiniti. So far I have not seen anything competitive with regard to the Genesis dealership experience. The car happens to be really nicely done. However, I probably should just expect the Hyundai experience and decide if Genesis is worth any premium. We got 28% off MSRP on a new 2019 G70 2.0T AWD. There are very few AWD sedans that compare to the G70, with the alternatives being a Subaru Legacy, Nissan Altima AWD, neither in the G70s class. The Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series are much more expensive. So if you don't want a SUV, the G70 sits by itself.
Hoping for a good ownership experience.
