If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I wanted to start a thread about the quality of service departments at different Hyundai dealerships as this appears to be night and day.

Please post:

Dealership Name
Overall score (1-10 subjective)
Reason for visit
If you received a loaner car and what model it was
Any additional notes or observations

Eckert Hyundai - Denton, TX

Overall Score: 4

Reason For Visit: Driveshaft Shudder & Sun Visor Replacement

Loaner Car: Hyundai Sonata

Notes: I took the car in 2 weeks ago to have it diagnosed and the dealership finally received the new parts last week. I scheduled a time to have them installed but when I brought the car in the service department asked me why I was there. I told them to look at my file and they informed me that I was scheduled for service and to receive a loaner car but they were not sure what they were servicing. This did not inspire confidence. I had to go over all the problems again even though they had diagnosed the problems and ordered the parts only two weeks prior.

I was told the repair would take between 4 and 6 hours but it ended up taking two days. The explanation I was given was that there were cars that they had not been able to get to over the weekend and that they were not able to start on mine until late in the day. I feel that if you schedule me for a time then it should be started at that time and should take the amount of time that you tell me.

Finally, although the Sonata is not a bad car I would prefer to receive a loaner of equal or better quality than I brought in. My neighbor has a Sonata that he took to Van Hyundai for service and he was given a Genesis as a loaner, I don't know why Eckert cant do the same.

Ourisman Hyundai, Laurel, MD

Overall score: 8

Old and somewhat shabby dealership, but service advisors and techs are first rate. They offer loaners (whatever is available at the moment - I have had an Elantra and a Mazda (this is a shared Hyundai/Mazda dealership). They also offer shuttle service to/from work or whereever you need to go.

Sales dept is also good - personnel are knowledgeable and friendly, and pretty laid back. I bought there and was never pressured in any way (except by the finance person who was relentless in pushing the usual crap, which I successfully resisted).

Tamiami Hyundai, Naples FL

rating varies (I have been there a lot) 2 to 8

Loaner once ... it was a Genesis

I was treated rudely once, but that never happened again. The problems I have had are electrical intermittents and how can a dealer help when Hyundai will not reimburse them for replacing parts that cannot be verified as being defective?

I'll cite one example: the driver's seat will sometimes refuse to move back; it will always move forward. Ignoring computer software, this is likely a defective limit switch. The dealer has to verify this before replacing the switch. Or, it could be the control switch ... same thing.

Hyundai is the major culprit in terms of my issues with my particular car. I am currently driving it with three intermittent problems and the driver seat is the one that could cause me to sue Hyundai. I am a lot taller than wifie and when that seat won't go back ........................

Good thread.

But - you folks need to also state whether or not you bought your car at that dealership.

Also - be aware that your dealer might be a member of this board and reading your posts!

That would be the best possible situation. If I owned a Hyundai dealership, I would certainly be reading this to make sure my Service & Sales Depts. were performing well.

Alexandria Hyundai
Rating: 10

Had a problem with the 2011 Genesis stereo. The guys at Alexandria are top notch and nice as can be. They ordered the parts and had an appointment scheduled the same week for install. I was given a loaner, problem was fixed, and the Genesis came back freshly washed. Alexandria Hyundai is no BS. They are a family run business and it shows. :D

This is the dealership I was at last night that was so scummy in trying to sell me a Genesis. To summarize:

- Advertised a price online that included a number of rebates they know people wouldn't be able to get.

- Added on $3,000 to the price for pinstripes, ONE free oil change, and some scratch guard crap on the doors/fenders.

- Advertised the vehicle as brand new but in reality it was a demo with more than 4,000 miles on it.

The salesperson I was working with, Brian, disappeared numerous times for unreasonably long periods of time (the first time, before we even discussed price, he was gone for 30 minutes before I tried to get up and leave and he mysteriously reappeared!).

Their service center may be decent but I'd stay far away from their sales team. I will NOT be giving them my business after the crap they pulled last night.

Dealership that I purchased at:

Kearney Mesa Hyundai in San Diego
Overall score: 3 (see details)
Reason for visit - valve cover gasket leak

Friendliness, competence and service were all about an 8. They wash your car every time that you bring it in ( I decline but that is a personal decision). The reason for a 3 rating is that they do not offer loaner cars. None of the dealerships in my area do. I have been in twice (once for diagnosis of issue, once to fix after part was in). I rated them as above after the first visit and the second time I received a rental car. But I had to go to the car rental agency myself and get a base level model. Hyundai will Never, never, never compete in the luxury car market in SoCal with this sort of service.

Cheers,
Newman

You should call Alexandria Hyundai and ask for the Sales Manager, Andy Kim. They are a class act in my opinion.

Rick Case Hyundai, Duluth(Atlanta) GA
10 outstanding, and the car was not purchased there.

In for routine service.

Loaner car available

This dealer has to give top service to compete in this neigborhood. Next door to BMW and Audi and just down the street from Lexus, Infinity, Mercedes and Cadillac dealers.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Dealer gave me phone line to Hyndai Road Service who set me up with towing within 2 hours

ps i purchased the car there and had a good experience. also, this was my first unplanned service experience with them.

See, this is why you can't rely on one person's report of their experience with any business. I've been dealing with Ourisman for 7 years and have never had any kind of negativity. My purchasing experiences (Azera, Genesis) were both professional, no pressure, and no misleading statements; likewise, service has been expert and speedy, and I always get a loaner, or a shuttle ride, when needed. And no, I have no personal or family connection with the dealer.

Yes, they are great, that is where I bought my 12 3.8. Not to mention they give you the 20yr 200,000 PT warranty to boot for buying there.

I have taken my car to two dealerships in AZ for service. Very unimpressed with both.

Bought the car from Larry Miller Hyundai. They were more than happy to take my money! Service was mediocre and I had to call them back regarding a part that was on order, otherwise they would have never finished what I went there for.

Similar experience with Chapman Hyundai. Brought the Genny there for a few basic things. One item needed a part order. They said they would let me know when it came in. Have never heard back from them.

Hyundai will have a hard time KEEPING customers if their dealerships cannot perform basic service.

I still love the car, but don't know were to take it next. Any other dealers will be out of my way.

I am adding pics since many say their dealer's service dept. and waiting areas are lacking. This is Rick Case in Duluth, GA(Atlanta burb) service area, and waiting area internet bar with free wifi.
