Dealers selling flooded batteries as OE replacements? - 2012 4.6

Was wondering to hear anyone's experience on getting replacement batteries from the dealer. Bought a Hyundai flooded H8 battery from the dealer today for my 2012 4.6 and was told that the OE battery is flooded and the replacements are also flooded. Was expecting these to be AGM, and poking around the forum has me thinking the OE was AGM. I have yet to get home from work, but will check the OE battery and see if it is flooded or AGM.

Any thoughts/comments on this?

I'd make my decision on how long you intend to keep the car and how cold it gets. Saving a few bucks today won't mean much when two years from now and your car won't start when it is 4 degrees and a long walk home. I probably would have bought an AGM from Advanced or Auto Zone.

Turns out the battery I had in the car was an aftermarket flooded. Worked great for the years I had it, went through a few discharges since it sat in a yard before I bought it, and discharged a couple times while I had it. I live in MN and it went through many -30 (and colder) degree days the last few winters without any issues. I figure an OE flooded should do about the same or better. FYI the OE flooded is an Interstate battery. Spoke with the dealer and they said all the OEs were flooded and they only replace with flooded.

Our cars came with flooded cell batteries from the factory. AGM = waste of money in our cars, IMO.

2009-14 were all flooded in the Genesis. Didn't switch to the AGM until 2015
