  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dealerships pile on luxury to attract car buyers

So its heating up in the auto world and the dealership experience seems to be a consideration as part of the over all ownership experience:

For me, we are firmly in the era of Internet sales- whether just for research of all facets of car buying or for the purchase itself. I will not let my time be wasted by salesmen who know less and care nothing for the product.

These changes will appeal to some - but many prospective Genesis owners are attracted to value over the trappings of brand.

Cheers,
Newman

I couldn't care less if the dealership operates out of a trailer. HOWEVER, I have been spoiled to expect a loaner vehicle. As a former MB and BMW owner and current Infiniti and Genesis owner, that's what I miss the most about the "Genesis experience."

I hear you. The only problem for me is that the nearest Hyundia dealership is a dreary little place where they are able to fit one Equus in the showroom. The service area holds 8 cars total and it too is a dreary place. I dreamt I had to take my yet to be bought Genesis there and woke up in a cold sweat.

Oh, and my wife took her Elantra to Keyes Hyndai, the biggest in the LA area, to have it serviced. They quoted her one price and 4 hours later presented her with a bill 4x the quote. She called me in tears. I went through the bill item by item and found they replaced parts that didn't need replacing for another 10,000-20,000 miles for the purpose of building out the bill. I disputed the charge and negotiated the bill down. But what an unethical way to do business and what a waste of my time.

So, my Genesis choice so far is an extremely small but friendly dealership or a large well stocked dealership that has proven itself to be unethical.
