Debadge Imprint Removal

So I removed the Genesis and 5.0 from the rear of the trunk, and there is a slight ghost/haze/imprint left behind.

What do you detailing experts recommend for removing this without hurting the finish?

Some people prefer a cleaner look.

Bingo on the cleaner look...Is a black car and I like a stealth appearance.

It's funny when people look at it and do a double take. People who don't know either think it's a Bentley or Chrysler 300 (yuck).

But the people who DO know all have high regard for the car, they just don't own one. I hope Hyundai can just push through the barrier and get some more sales traction.
 
You should be able to fade out the ghost letters with some heavy duty rubbing compound like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and some good ol' elbow grease or rotary DA polisher. The ghost letters are the color the paint SHOULD be, as contaminants have not embedded themselves to this paint, so if you compound/polish your entire trunk lid, the colors match up pretty close.

I did this on mine but the letters were not very noticeable in the first place so it didn't take much effort to blend it out with some compound.

Make sure your paint is clean of any debris or double sided tape remnants before compounding, as this will only scratch the clear coat worse.

Best advice thus far. Wash the car thoroughly, use a good rubbing compound and then step to a lighter polishing compound. I'd even suggest once you have that done and the trunk lid is all polished, give the car a good clay bar then wash/wax. the clay bar gets at the embedded dirt and contaminants a normal wash can't get and should help bring all the original color possible out of your paint so you don't notice those small differences between the paint that has been exposed to the elements and the paint that has been protected by those badges all this time.
 
Thanks for the advice everyone...the Meguiar's worked like a charm. But man, a little of that goes a looooong way. Not sure what to do with the remaining bottle!
 
After using it on the body, use a good wax to achieve visually perfect result.
