  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys finally got my carbon fibre badges!

Just wondering if there’s any videos out there, or who has done it already!

Looking for some tips!

They're just backed by adhesive. Use a blow dryer or heat gun, warm it up, and pry off. You can use a credit card to help, but expect some scratches.

I removed my HTRAC logo with just some heat and my fingers.

Share some pics once its done!

Good dental floss also works so your not having anything that scrapes or that might pry and damage paint. Dental floss will sort of saw thru the foam tape. It can break easily so just grab the whole container. Use goo-gone or similar to remove adhesive residue.

I use 20lb fishing line to de-badge my cars. I also recommend using a rubber decal eraser wheel attached to a drill to remove any hard to remove adhesive residue remaining on the body to minimize scratching. That is the methods I used to de-badge my Escalade side badges recently. The rubber wheel costs about $15 on Amazon.

Tacky looking letter badging removed

Tacky looking lettering in place

How to use fishing line and a rubber eraser wheel to de-badge. Same method I used.

Hey Chappy! I've been looking to debadge my G70 too and replace them with some CF emblems to go with a CF trunk spoiler I was thinking about getting. Where'd you get your CF emblems from?? I've been looking everywhere!

And yup, +1 for the dental floss and heat gun/blow dryer technique. I obviously haven't debadged by G70 yet, but did the same method for debadging my Evo years ago.

I'm curious. Does the G70 hood badge fit into an indent? Or is it flush? I was thinking a while back that the front hood might look great debadged. Anyone done this?

Today I removed the rear Genesis badge on my 2015 5.0. I used 20lb fishing line and the rubber eraser method I described above in post #4. The process took about 10 minutes(maybe less) tops including using adhesive remover and paint detailer to clean up the site.

The process worked without scratching the paint.

Tip: If you use fishing line to debadge keep the line close to the back of the badge you are removing so that you only touch the badge and not the body paint while you use a sawing motion. No scratches.

Leftover 3M tape that needed to be removed with the eraser wheel.

Body after the tape residue was removed and the area cleaned.

The products I used.

Nobody has debadged the front and maybe has pics?

I found the answer. Apparently, the hood wing badge has a few prongs. If you debadge, you have to fill in the holes. Not as simple as removing glue.

If someone really wanted to remove the hood emblem; they could use a small amount of Bondo to fill in the holes and then sand the area smooth and paint the area for a clean factory look.
