If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2010 V.8 Tech Genesis Sedan.

If Bass is above 70%, the materials around the subwoofer in the back begins to rattle.

I notice that in the trunk, there's housing that goes around the sub. In my 2009 Genesis Sedan, the sub was open, and rattling was at a minimum.

Has anyone else noticed this in their ride, and decided to remove the material around the sub to prevent rattling? Or, as an alternative, recommendations on places that I could tighten up.

Thanks,

E

Raise your sunshade and the rattle disappears.

Cheers

The reason I ask is because I'm going through a fight with the dealer about how my rear shelf rattles. I've heard of other people on here complaining about it, but never heard of anyone actually getting their dealer to fix it.

You didn't ask. You're not the OP. Did you try my method?

It's the sunshade on the back deck causing the rattle to begin with. When it's up and heavy bass hits it the thing gets really noisy, even when it's down it can still rattle. On my 2010 I had the back seat removed and put Dyna-mat on the rear deck and behind the seats. It eliminated the rattle from a lot of songs but on others it was still noticable. If the shade is up it doesn't help that much.

Then you have something loose. The vacuum hose sniff test might work. As long as you keep it away from tge speaker you won't go deaf. :-)

Yeah it rattles up or down for me. The side doors rattle too. It's very annoying.

Hi, did anything come out from your complaints with the dealership or corporate? I am doing the same and nothing yet.
I have a 2013 5.0 rspec and the I got the same problem whenever I listen to sam smith song "stay with me". It rattles even if the volume is at 6-7 and the bass is all the way up. I don't believe a luxury with a high power output that could not handle the bass at such a low volume.

Same problem with my 13 RSpec. I also had the same issue with my 13 Sonata. I fixed that problem by putting a rag between these two bars that overlapped in the trunk. They were just too close together and it rattled. I can't see if it's the same issue in the Genesis because of all the padding in the trunk. But my sonata use to hit bass hard and after I fixed that problem it was awesome.

Guess I'll find a day when it's nice and I'm not lazy to take apart the trunk lining and see what's the problem.

Had the same problem a couple of months ago on my 2013 RSPEC. The dealer tightened something with the shade, maybe the motor or something, but it stopped the rattling. When I go for my oil change in May, I will find out exactly what they did, and report back.

Holy thread resurrection! Did you ever happen to learn what they actually did? Would like to try it on my 2012. I get rattle when the shade is up. If I put it down, it goes away for a bit then comes back. Put the shade back up and it goes away for a bit then comes back again. Thanks in advance!
