  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2012 5.0 Genesis non-Rspec with a defective LCD info display between the speedometer and tach. When the car is in sunlight (most of the time) the display is too dim the read. In the shade or at night it is fine. Turning on the parking lights or headlights does not allow the brightness to be increased. Hyundai has recognized the problem but has refused to issue a repair and has said "that is just the way it is". This not only is an irritant but a safety issue. I love the car in all other respects but now concerned how other repair issues will be addressed in the future. Hyundai's refusal to repair this problem has cost them a customer and I will tell all I know not to buy a Hyundai. You can't trust the warranty. I even offered to pay for the repair!!!! I would be interested to hear from anyone that has the same problem. Apparently it is only on the 2012 Genesis 5.0 non-Rspec.

I'm assuming you already adjusted the brightness of the instrument panel to the maximum using the control knob.

Also brightness and auto settings for map screen etc are in the DIS system under car settings.

I'm not of much help for your problem, but have you tried another dealer? And you would think it should be pretty simple to turn on another car in the lot and see if yours is different or not.

It seems like all the 2012 Genesis 5.0 in the lot have the same problem. Hyundai just has no fix for the problem and seems to not care.

I am sure they care, but they know if they had to fix it, it would cost millions of dollars, and maybe also be bad publicity.

I'm in CT, and also do not have a problem with my LCD.

I know it's inconvenient, but I would research for the highest-rated dealers in your area and take it there. Pretty sure it won't be the same dealer you went to.

A nicely-worded letter to HMA might help with a fix. Or even a call. But if you lose your cool... you're not dealing with a company at that point, you're dealing with a person, and people don't typically respond well to negative calls.

In the words of Dalton, "Just be nice."
