  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So before I picked up my used Genesis, the dealer "kindly" replaced the windshield with a new, aftermarket one. The automatic wiper sensor didn't really work, so I figured it was due to the black marks covering the sensor's lens. When I took the rain sensor off, though, I heard something ratting around. Turns out, it's a tiny, tiny transistor (capacitor? idk) that was connected to the automatic defog sensor. I assume a wayward screwdriver knocked it lose during the windshield replacement.

Anyway, the part number is: 972573R000

What I'd really like to do, before I go out and buy a replacement sensor (for 80 dollars!) is to try resoldering this capacitor. Problem is, I'm not entirely sure where it came from! I don't suppose any of you have pictures of your defog sensors? I'll put some up of mine when I get home later.

If you have a Lane-departure Warning system, check it out. Generic after-market windshields kill that. Many people on here have discussed how it takes a genuine Hyundai windshield to keep the LDWS working. Don't let the dealer get off cheap on this one.
