  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have recently noticed that when I turn on my front defroster (defogger here in Florida) that I have a small area in the lower center portion of the windshield that takes much longer to defog.

I hit the defog button and crank up the heat to 80+ and when I placed my hand up in front of the steering wheel, it is blowing hot air. When I move my hand down towards the center lower portion of the windshield, it is blowing cold air.

Can any of you check yours to see if it is doing the same thing? Is this normal? I tried with and without Smart Vent and Auto Defog on. No difference.

I cannot compare to hot humid air in Florida but I can tell you defrost in much more demanding extreme cold and ice worked like a charm all winter long. Big improvement from the Gen 1 by the way.

This morning on the way to work it perfectly fine. Go figure...

A hair dryer is an improvement over my climate control lol

That's because you live in the snow belt region with that lake effect snow. I grew up in the Binghamton New York area which is a few hundred miles south of you and we could have used a few blow dryers back in the day. :D

Granted my car is garaged overnight, but we had the most snowfall (and one of the coldest) winters in New England this past year. The climate control, IMO, worked pretty darn well. It is left outside at work, and a Blue Link remote start about 10 minutes before I leave, and everything on the glass was melted/clear.

What is the issue with the Gen 1?

I'm experiencing similar issues. However, as begin driving the light condensation at the bottom of the windshield becomes significantly worse. I've tried defrost with AC off and on. In addition, I've also attempted to use the recycle feature. A solution is needed --- I can't keep using the wipers every morning.

There is no rhyme or reason to it. Some days it works just fine and others, not so much. I have lived to just deal with it as the last thing I want is my dealer removing the dashboard.

That is likely because the compressor runs less in eco mode, so the humidity is higher and the windshield is more prone to fogging. Less AC is not a good option in TX...
