  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just purchased my 2010 4.6 V8 sedan a month ago. Absolutely love it. My only gripe has been a frequent delay with any activities on the navigation/stereo/rear camera.

For example, I might start up the car, wait a minute, put it into reverse, and the rear camera won't activate until I'm already in the street (~10 seconds later). Sometimes it manifests itself as a delay when switching XM stations or making a phone call. Delays can range from 1-2 seconds all the way up to "catching up" a half-minute later. It's a nagging annoyance and I'm just wondering if it's a common occurrence with Genesis owners or just a glitch in my car.

Never experienced anything like that on my 2009 Tech. The camera image displays well within a second of selected reverse. And that's just seconds after starting the car too; I don't have to wait for the Nav or SDS software to finish it's start-up sequence. My usual start sequence is simply pushing START button, put on seat belt while the engine catches, when the seat & steering wheel finish returning from the "easy access" position I release the parking brake and shift into gear. Just a few seconds... and the back-up camera has always been ready.

When tuning XM, via steering wheel preselect button or the DIS knob, the on-screen data changes fairly quickly though the audio lags a moment or two; not more than a second though. Just enough for XM's "signal dropped" buffer to empty.

Your car sounds like it has a serious box-to-box communications issue; either one of the various A/V system modules is spewing gibberish on the car's networking bus - blocking other modules from sending/receiving on that same wire - or the head unit is junk. Whatever, it's not normal and something the warranty should be taking care of. If the service writers say "it's normal" make them demonstrate other new cars on the lot exhibit the same nonsense.

Thanks for clarifying. However, as the 2nd owner, will this still be covered under warranty?

I own a 2012 3.8 w/premium. Have driven it for 2 weeks and today when I started the car, the NAV screen displayed the word "Genesis" but never switched to the back-up camera and would not give me any sterio/audio features.

While this has never happened before, it did happen after I used the NAV system to get me from point A to B for the first time.

Anyone else?

My rear camera went out the other day- first slow to engage when put in reverse- then distorted signal- now black with the nanny yellow and red lines. 59,000 miles.
