  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For those that do not have the base model wood applique on the dash, but rather, have the 'leather' trim on dash and doors - what products do you use to clean?

I hesitate to use a leather cleaner/protectant/restorer, but I do not want to use a standard dash cleaner if the leather 'wipe' would be a better solution, as I do not want it to dry out or start cracking. That being said, I do not want to introduce a product that will cause this to happen due to dependency.

I do not plan on using any dash cleaner on the dashboard itself; just a damp paper towel. I do not want that gloss look, nor do I want the reflection on the windshield or the aforementioned dependency. Dash cleaner is for the pebbled look part of the under-dash and doors. Leather cleaner/restorer is for the seats and armrests unless otherwise recommended. IMO anyway :D

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I use Aerospace 303 on the leather and dash. Oddly enough, it also works well on the wood / metal finish in the center console.

I usually apply to an applicator pad (or folded over microfiber towel works) ... let sit for a spell, and wipe down excess with a clean micro fiber towel.

If course.. if there is debris on the dash (dust, etc) wipe all of that off before adding the dressing.

there is a camping store near me (REI) that sells it. There are others, but this is hte closest to me.

works great. if left on... has a little gloss (not too high) but when wiped down there is not a real gloss to it... only protection.

loved that stuff...

Many people (including myself) use Lexol leather cleaner and conditioner (two separate products). If you leather is reasonably clean, just try the conditioner.

For the dash, you might try a product like ArmorAll Low Shine Protectant. But even with regular AmorAll the shine will recede after a few weeks and will not be objectionable to most people. Might be good to leave your car windows open for awhile when parked (if you can) to let the interior breath and help the shine to recede. Same goes for the Lexol on leather (the shine will recede after a few weeks).

Thanks for the reply's. I will look into the Aerospace - never heard of it...as to the Lexol, it has a great reputation. I have a great product I am using for that process however.

Right now, I'm using Weiman's wipes to do the 'weekly" cleanings (dash wipes and leather wipes). I have Zaino leather cleaner and conditioner for when it needs the additional care. If you have not heard of Zaino, it's worth looking in to. They have a great line of products.

Appreciate the advice...

I use Lexol and Blue Magic.

I like both, but Blue Magic to me provides better results.

From my understanding, leather cleaner/conditioner should not leave a shine. Just a rich, soft leather. Blue Magic also smells good.

I use products that DO NOT contain Lanolin.

I use pinnacle dimond coat line of products i buy from autogeek.com
