  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just handed in my 2017 G80 and got the 2019 G70 (leased both) and what I noticed immediately was the sensors response on the G70 is not nearly as sensitive as the G80 was. With the G80 it annoyingly beeped eveywhere like at traffic lights when any car was close. It also would warn me of a possible forward collision anytime I was getting too close to a car in front of me. Well I've only had this G70 for a few days but I can already tell that this is not the case as I haven't gotten any forward collision warnings or have barely heard the front parking sensors. They do work though since I purposely sped up too close to a car and it warned me but at the last 2-3 seconds. I even changed setting to "early" alert too. Speaking with a sales guy at dealership he said he's experiencing the same result from his newer Sonata compared to an older model and believes Hyundai toned down the response to the sensors due to too many complaints of excess unnecessary warnings. Hmmmm. Anyone else make the same change as me and have similar experiences? On a different topic I just turned on my G70 and there was no sound from radio?? I turned off car twice and that fixed it. Strange. I see that this has been an issue with models a few years back which seems to be related to a battery connection. Hope it was only a one time issue but doubt it. Anyone else experience this?

I've had my G70 for over a year now and I've tuned down or completely disabled many of the driving sensors. The first one that got tuned down was the front collision warning. Too many times the brakes were activated for what the car thought was an imminent collision and I felt was a low risk. The next one that I disabled completely was lane keeping assist. I just couldn't get used to the steering adjusting itself.

Can't comment on your audio problem as I've never seen this.

Audio thing has happened before, there’s a couple threads about it in that subsection. It’s a temporary bug and most of us haven’t seen it come back after the first couple months of ownership

Regarding the sensors I would also say Demographic is a real reason here, along with improved technology.

I had a G80 loaner and noticed quite a few things that appeared targeted to another demographic compared to the G70. The sensitivity of the sensors being one of them wouldn't surprise me.

have you checked the settings?

in my 2018 G80 there are multiple settings for the sensors and they can be set to alert Early - Normal - Late

I suspect the G70 has them at the default (normal) or someone messed with them and set them to late.

or they were set to "early" on your G80 and are "normal" in the G70.

I don't know if there is a way to check sensitivity but there should be settings like the G80 has. Perhaps it is set for too soon. OTOH, what you consider normal distance may be another's tailgating. I've had the warning go off when a car in front slowed for a turn but did not seem to be all that close, but never had it put brakes on. .

Yes was set at normal & I changed to early but I'm still getting less warnings than the G80. I don't believe the '17 G80 had those 3 choices though. Perhaps it's a smaller car overall which affects the sensors' radius view. I shouldn't be complaining I guess since it annoyed me on the G80 anyway. 😏

Early means more warnings...it really should be giving you some beeps in my experience. I have mine on late and I’ll still get them very occasionally but it’s usually a good reminder to slow down a bit

I'm getting way more Forward Collision-Avoidance warnings in my G70 that what I used to get with my 2016 Genesis 3.8. My simple explanation is that the G70 is so fun to drive that my driving habits are more aggressive now.

I would like to give my opion about the Forward Collision Avoidance in our 2018 G80. I know
this is a G70 forum but the rules are the same.

We were traveling about 25 mph in a 35 mph street. One car ahead of us
doing the same. People were walking on both sides of the street. With no warning
a young boy resided he wanted to be on the other side of the road so when the car
ahead of us got by, he stepped out in front of us crossing the street. I had my eyes on him
so I knew what was going to happen, we were going to hit him. Before I could get my foot
on the brakes, Gennie (yes that is what call her.) alarmed, locked the brakes down and stopped.
The boy could have easily touched the front of the car but never looked or flinched, just keep on
walking. Gennie paid for herself.

In other words, it works great the way it is, don't try to second guess it.

That is a great story.
I have not had the brakes depress at any point, I have had the red "warning" come on perhaps 2-3 times or so (7+months in), but had already started to brake when it came on.
Perhaps I am not driving aggressively enough--but it has not been an issue for me.
