  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi Guys,

I might eventually get the Equus, however I don't see anywhere about what major changes are between these two years. Anything different in the look, features, anything?

Pearl White paint, Bluetooth telemetrics (I'm not sure about this one) and I can't find anything else in vehicle descriptors

It seems in 2012, the Equus was available in white as well.

Sorry, you are correct

Supposedly it has more user friendly Driver Information System (DIS) for navigation, phone etc.

According to Edmunds.com:

What's New for 2013

The Hyundai Equus is unchanged for 2013.

One thing has likely changed. As I write this I'm sitting in the showroom floor looking at a Signature model that gets 15/23 mpg, per the window sticker. I imagine that the '12 had higher numbers on the window. No thank you, V8.

Nope, 2012 has the identical numbers as the 2013 sticker.

The 2013 Signature does not have rear side window shades. This is certainly not a big difference. So far my 2013 Signature is the best car I have ever had. The ride, comfort, gadgets, and power are worlds apart from my former 2009 Genesis (one of the first six cylinders with the tech package).
When people ask me who makes it, I tell them "I have no idea I stole it".

For a $60K car I have no problem paying more on gas plus the numbers are respectable for a 429 hp 302 CID V8. I would like to see a larger gas tank though, maybe 23 gallons?

Why don't you just tow a gas tanker?

Anyone else getting the push from the sales department at your dealer to trade in your 12 for a 13? I don't see any difference, why bother?

To make them more money :)

Another difference between the 2013 Equus and prior years is the 2013 does not lower itself if left in the raised position when the engine is turned off.

As edmunds.com said, there is NO difference between the 2012 and 2013. I was just given a 2013 "loaner" while they serviced my 2012 and the 2013 does lower itself when the engine is turned off. The dealer confirmed no changes in 2013. This was my first service and it was great. Dealer brought a 2013 and took my 2012 for service (no fee for anything!) and left me the 2013 to use in my car's absence.
Needless to say, I am still thrilled with my 2012 Equus after 6 months of ownership!

Just had the same experience. Why would anyone buy a BMW or MB and have to take it to the shop?

Seriously? As long as they have valet service, I will be a customer.

Interesting. Mine definitely does not lower when engine is turned off. My 2013 does not have rear window side shades. I've been told the 2012 does. Is that not a change?

The 2012 Signature does not have rear side window sunshades, only the rear window sunshade. The Ultimate has the side window shades. I have tinted my windows so I have not really made use of the rear sunshade. So, I am guessing the report was correct - there were absolutely no changes between 2012 and 2013.

Good luck with your 2013 and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been enjoying my 2012!

A friend of mine came over to visit and stayed in my house overnight. I specifically asked him to put his 2013 Equus Signature in "high" setting before shutting off the engine on my driveway. I saw his car raise about an inch as he put it in "high". I then measured the distance between the tail pipe and the ground with a ruler before he shut off the engine. I measured it again the next morning before he started the engine. It remained the same. So I know for my friend's 2013, the suspension did not drop to the low setting overnight if set to high before parking. I said in another thread that I was afraid the Equus might not have enough ground clearance to clear my steep driveway. We tried both low and high, both cleared without scratching but very close to scratching with low.
