  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just have about 1200 miles on my v8 with Tech package and yesterday while driving the DIS including audio, GPS, Phone all just went blank and will not power back up.

I tried restarting the car after several hours yet nothing.

Took it to the dealership this morning - They have no clue what is wrong and are waiting to hear back from HMA service.

the technician believes they are going to take the dash off to access the display unit - AGH!!!

has anybody else had a similar experience or know of anything to try before they take apart the dash

Thanks

had to have my whole head unit replaced because my blue tooth wasnt working ($4000) for my 4.6 w/ tech that is how much the head unit costs

This happened on my 3.8 Tech package. The audio cut out periodically. After awhile after restarting the car it would work. They ended up replacing a part of the sound system. The car only had little over a thousand miles.

Only "problem" I have with mine is after about 30 minutes of music being played on volume level 17, the DIS resets/shuts down for 10-20 seconds and turns back on at about 50% speaker volume. I'm sure the amp keeps overheating and this is the way it protects itself.

Sure wish the amp wasn't under the seats and was in the trunk so it could keep cool.

Oh well, it doesn't take long to cool down and get the volume back up.

I thought the amp was in the trunk mounted on the passenger side wheel well. Something in that location has a fan that comes on when I'm out driving on a hot day. The fan keeps running after I shut off the car (about 5 min. max.). Maybe its a cpu but I thought it might be an amp.

It very well could be, I just assumed it was under the seat.......

my V6 non-navi Genesis when delivered had a bad amp. The amp on mine (and I can only assume that the location of the amp on the V8/tech/navi is the same) is on the right side of the trunk between the trunk side wall and the floor.

I'll take a look and if needed I may remount it so it's not being choked for air
