  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Disable engine auto shutdown

Hey dareckibmw!!!! Ive been trying for the past two weeks to figure out how to message or get in contact with you directly, ive read alot of your post on 1st gens and need to ask you a few things, please lmk how i can contact you, thanks

I specifically asked them to delete this feature from the recent GV70s I bought and I'm very happy they complied.
your dealer did this and did not go into a seizure ranting about voiding the warranty? I bought one of these plug-in devices to delete the ISG. Unfortunately, my hands do not fit into the compartment as instructed per the YouTube video and the dealer said "if we detect this thing it will automatically void your warranty" I don't know if he was being truthful or not BUT, I have yet to do this in fear of voiding my warranty. Anyone else try this and NOT void their warranty?

Depends. It may void part of the warranty that it controls or affects It would not void the warranty on your power seat.
This will give you some idea how it works.

All well & good, BUT if the dealer denies warranty service because of a mod you're going to have a long road ahead to get that overridden, especially if Genesis backs them. Your only recourse is court which can be costly and time consuming !

That said, any dealer saying they will deny warranty coverage over this tiny 'mod' is probably a major jerk anyway & you'd be better off getting service elsewhere !

Since you're a new member, you won't be able to contact anyone for a while. Forum rules. I'll send you a message.

I want to be able to disable the auto shutdown feature on my GV70 permanently
If the bread bag clip or extra wiring device isn't your thing, you can always set driving mode to SPORT+.
ISG will not function in SPORT+ or "multi terrain" mode.

ISG is not mandated by law in the USA so I don't understand why there is no option to disable.

ISG is not mandated but it was used to get the EPA ratings, thus the present setup is mandated.
Push the button or jam it to be done with it.

Gotta wonder why the engineers simply don't built a 3-second delay into the damn thing. That would eliminate nuisance shutdowns at stop signs and when entering parking spots.

Tip: Sometimes using a light foot on the brake pedal can bring the car to a stop without triggering shutdown.

Because that would also eliminate some of the supposed savings that show up on the standard EPA drive cycle tests...

I found a solution, and while it may sound too cheap for a luxury car, it works perfectly. I wedged a small piece of soft black plastic between the button and its housing while pressing it. Done—no more ISG, unless I pull out this little “magic stopper.”
