  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, my 2021 G70 is parked in my driveway and anyone with a semi-loud car sets off the alarm when driving by. My neighbors are about to kill us. Is there a way to disable this part of the alarm system?

Nope. Other than leaving it unlocked.

Can you disconnet what makes the noise? Is it the car horn or a separate noise maker?

Would it make a difference with what it senses if you back in or pull in forward?

It uses the horn.

Usually when a loud car and/or thunder sets off aftermarket car alarm systems, it is either the shock sensor (accelerometer) or glass break sensor (microphone), or motion sensor (radar) that triggers it. Most factory alarm systems don't have them. I didn't think G70 has any of them.

Could be one of the door/hood/trunk sensors that is getting iffy.

I had a previous vehicle that the alarm would sound randomly, including during the night. An internet search led me to discover that it was the trunk latch that accumulated moisture. Occasional cleaning was my answer. Not specific to your issue but related. I think this vehicle has a hood sensor. Can anyone confirm that?

That makes sense. A loud car can cause reverberation on the hood.

There's definitely a hood sensor, since the dash shows the hood LED lit when it's open, even without the fob around. But a semi-loud vehicle triggering the alarm doesn't sound right to me. It'd have to be pretty darn loud. But you should be able to disable the interior motion sensor, which is what must be triggering the alarm for that reason (what else?), like when you leave a pet inside the vehicle. Other than that, there are just the door/trunk/hood sensors, and the tilt one (like if you jack up the vehicle). Mess with vehicle settings, and see what you find. Good luck.
