  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone here know the exact steps? I went to the dealer to get this done and they said after hooking the car up to their computer that the options does not exist.

You can disable AEB from the car controls but it turns back on after you shut off the car.

Let's not derail and make this thread about proper seat belt wearing and such, I always have my seat belt on when driving but there are times around my property where I am making quick stops and such where a seat belt is a hassle.

For the seatbelt it’s probably easier to get a bypass or an extender.

I use an extender because I find the buckle is too deep into the side of the seat, It gives me some extra length and since it is always plugged in, no seat belt buzzer.

The sonata (all Hyundai I think) uses the same buckle as the genesis. This is the one I got:

Hyundai Sonata Seat Belt Extension Adds 5", Rigid, Black - E4 Safety Certified | eBay

For the bypass I use this on my passenger seat when I have my computer bag there:

2PC METAL SAFETY SEAT BELT CONTROL BUCKLE CLASP ALARM STOPPER NULL INSERT P5 | eBay

As for AEB don’t know, on the 2018 it can be completely turned off inside the DIS and it stays off.

Of course it does not exist. It is a Federal law to have it and car makers are not going to be responsible for a violation.

Some manufacturers have the options to disable the function, e.g. Toyota and Lexus. The Hyundai dealer also agreed to do it as long as I sign off on it, if it was possible.

Just go to your local auto salvage yard. Find a Sonata and rip the belt and save the buckle. Stick it in the clasp and you are good to go. No Ding. Ding. Ding. I looked it up in the manual. In every 30 sec period it dings 6 times @ the 24 sec mark with each ding being a second in time. Genesis is pretty anal about this. So say a 1/2 drive with no seat belt you would hear that god dam DING 180 times!!

I know some people really get their panties in a bunch about wearing your seatbelt, LOL. Read my post for the solution to the DING! DING! DING! problem. Also for a while I would take the passangers side belt and click it into the drivers side. The only drawback to that was you couldnt open the center armrest...

It exists on every other car on the planet. lol

So, you claim that every car on Earth has an option setting to disable the seat belt chime. Please do point how some of those for me. I've had a couple of cars that actually did, but most have not.
It would also be interesting to find that the older models that didn't even have the option for seat belts had an open to disable the non-existent seat belt chime for the non-existent seat belts.

I was slightly exaggerating when i said every vehicle on the planet. But every car ive ever had, and i've had 20 cars from almost every automaker, has had the option to disable it. Alot of times, its a sequence of events, like turn the car's ignition on and off 3 times, then buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 10 times. this is an example. Google usually has an answer for this.

Just remember, Every car you've had != every car ever made or even currently made.
My own experience has been that brands that make police cars have a belt minder disable feature (hidden or not), and brands that don't seem to not have this. Of course, I haven't experienced all the cars out there either, just enough to know that at least some do not have this.

On Chevy back in 1992, you could pull the fuse. Now the safety system is part of the CAN bus. Strip of buckle off a junked car and be done with it. But make sure you know the consequences in your state. You may not have insurance coverage if you're not wearing your seat belt.
