  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi everyone,
I received an email regarding the Genesis Connected Services.

“IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT YOUR GENESIS CONNECTED SERVICES

Due to changes in telecommunications technology over time, the wireless service provider of the network enabling the use of your Genesis Connected Services device has announced that it will discontinue 3G CDMA network service by December 31, 2022.”

Does anyone know what our next steps should be? Is there an upgrade I need to seek out for 4G/5G?

I just got the same notice affecting my 2019 G80.

This is another example of Genesis failing to be proactive. I have a 2018 GMC truck with OnStar.

OnStar has been prepared for the loss of 3G for years. On this page: OnStar 3G shutdown plan They lay out how they will do over the air software updates to 2015 and newer GM vehicles so their customers will not be affected if their vehicle is less than 8 years old.

The good news for me as a GMC OnStar customer is that they provide an app that I can load on my iPhone and activate when in my Genesis and it will give me OnStar support there.

I love many things about my Genesis but there are several things that make it less attractive if I were looking to buy a new vehicle. This is one of them.

Does this notice reflect a deficiency in your Genesis vehicle telecommunication service or your cell phone plan?

I too have received the notice. What features on the car will be throttled and what features will remain? The letter was "specific" yet vague on the implementations.

I see nothing about throttled. Just connected service discontinued, meaning everything the app does. The button on the mirror will be dead too.

As for the app, I'm going to take it off the phone but first will copy it to a 5 1/4' floppy disk in case I need it again.

It looks like all features covered by any of the 3 subscription options: Connected Care, Remote, Guidance.

I found this article about all cars, or at least the ones who responded to the author, The Drive 3G shutdown.

I have currently been without the services since July 2021 due to a failure and they can't quite figure out how to fix it, currently an I-box is on order for me. I will be seriously considering selling my G80 soon, I guess one option is a 3rd party remote start, that is the biggest feature I really care about anyways.

Does anyone know what year or model of Genesis isn't affected by this?

I guess one option is a 3rd party
I had started a thread a year or so ago about 3rd party starters, to create a list of the ones that work. I dont think but one person posted their aftermarket starter but it does seem to work fine.

The button on the mirror will be dead too.
The only button on the mirror I've ever used is the on off button for the compass/auto rear mirror darkening

so is this 3g service problem affecting the new models 22 gv80's etc. ? we just took delivery of the car yesterday & like the remote start & camera view on the app. it will suck if this goes away in less than 1 year.

No, it won't affect the 2021's and 2022's it looks like.

Fingers crossed let's hope not

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
So this is one thread where you wont find any Canadians complaining as bluelink was never offered on 2015-2020 Genesis in Canada LoL

So, after sending me the email saying my 2019 Genesis Ultimate will no longer be able to have any of the connected services features after 12/2022, Genesis decided to add insult to injury by sending me an email telling me about all the connected services features. The first page is attached. And this is supposed to be a luxury brand? I'll be dumping my Genesis and shopping elsewhere.
