  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do Equus owners also debadge their trunk?

I just saw the 2014 Equus brochure and noticed that they have the traditional flying H Hyundai emblem on their trunk lid. I wonder if Equus owners remove it?

(I like my winged Genesis emblem on my trunk lid, since it matches the winged emblem on the hood).

I am not a big fan of the Equus badge, looks too pretentious to me, that being said still looks better than the flying H on the Equus.

The Genesis emblem especially the new one looks quite elegant and understated, I would rather see something like that on the next generation Equus.

Usually yes. Like the Genesis, the Equus sold in South Korea does not have a flying H logo on it, so one can get the Equus logo from a South Korean Hyundai dealer parts department and put it on a USA Equus. There are importers who buy them in Korea and sell them on eBay, etc for USA owners. Some USA Hyundai dealers do the logo swap to their inventory before a customer asks for it (just like Genesis).

I don't mean anything by this other then to be silly...but i'd de-car the badge. not a fan of the equus looks. probably my age range....30-40. its too old money for me, so was the last genesis. the new genesis looks like new money to me. more modern.

to be on subject, every single equus I've seen at the dealer in my area....all have equus badges and all of them have been sitting on the showroom floor for months on end.

I agree the new Genesis looks much better than the Equus. That said, I do get a lot of positive comments on the Equus looks. Guess it's all a matter of taste. We'll see what they do with the Equus in the next update, which will probably be 2016 or 2017.

I drive 60 miles round-trip each day, all straight line freeway miles. So having the buttery smooth air suspension on the Equus was much more important to me than the looks or the handling. And because they sit on the lot, you can get them cheaper than a new Genesis Ultimate. I got my 2012 Signature brand new in Nov 2012 for $47,400. And it came with 5 years/60K miles free maintenance with concierge service (free loaner delivered to your home or work). A much better overall deal IMHO than the previous generation Genesis. The new Genesis may be a different story.

Oh, and yes, I replaced the rear flying H with the Equus badge right after I bought it.

I'm thinking of trying to get a 2014 Equus as the year ends. Should be able to drive a great bargain on the remaining 2014 siting on lots.

I much prefer the current Genesis front end, but also much prefer the Equus in the rear. The Equus is certainly nicer inside.

There was a time when new money was looked down upon, and old money was much more respected. Times have changed.

Actually, the correct term for the thread should re-badge, not de-badge. I say that because some owners have decided to go naked (or nearly naked) in the rear and remove all the badges (de-badge).
