Do i need to flash my ECU in to take advantage of a Turbo Controller ?

Well i've been looking around and from what i'm reading it seems as i would need to flash my ECu in order to take advantage of a turbo controller. If i do is there a way to restore the original programming without evidence of ecu tampering ?

i know you don't have to flash the ECU to run a boost controller and right now there is no programming for this car or Hyundai or Kia ECU's...

well i was looking on this forum where they got pretty good gains, the flasher is 650$ store two programs and keeps your stock program aswell, they have the genesis program on order from what i was reading.

hmmm link didn't work BUT if it has 2 different programs and stores yours then it can be put back in the car with no problem

see i was under the impression that the ecu on the gen wouldn't let you control boost due to strict programming and therefore you would have to flash the ecu but if people are having no problem controlling boost it shouldn't be an issue.

NGM makes parts for Tiburons. Tim Conni, the owner, has barely just broken into the ECU on the Tibs and is starting to come up with flashes for the supercharger kits he sells that produce some pretty wild power. As of right now, I don't know what his intentions are for the Genesis, but they are currently relocating the shop from Florida to Texas, so I wouldn't count on him having a GC shop car yet.

You can install any aftermarket Electronic boost controller to control boost without flashing the ecu. Anyone that tells you otherwise has no understanding of how wastegates work... (internal if running the stock turbo.. but all the same).

That said... the issue isn't how to raise boost.... the issue is how far can u raise the boost before they factory tune goes off, or the ECU goes into some kind of overboost mode...

The factory tune is very rich . You can raise it a few PSi and are perfectly safe. Just make sure you have a boost gauge and premium fuel and u should be fine.

Ok so I just have to buy a boost gauge, MBC and put some prenium fuel and I'll be able to raise the boost!? But how far? 2-3 or even 5 psi?

And I heard the stock boost is 6 psi, is it true?

I would look into Autometer gauges. I've always had good luck with them and they sell all kinds of different styles. As far as a boost controller, I'd get a good MBC versus a digital one if youre just looking to turn it up a few psi. I know turboxs and a few other companies make some decent ones for 50-60ish. Check on Ebay but make sure that youre getting a legit product and not some cobb-job.
