  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you see your service records on the Genesis app/website?

I just got my first car service yesterday, got an oil change and 30 points inspection and tire rotation.

I like to keep track of these things, I checked my Genesis app and it's still showing no service history. I'm wondering if it takes a while to update (it really shouldn't right?). I also checked my carfax account, nothing there as well aside from the original service when the car was manufactured, I do see the update on there that the car was purchased etc do you think that the Genesis dealership haven't updated that in their system?

Also another question, they have used synthetic blend for my oil, I was expecting full synthetic, they didn't even tell my any of that info. They told me to come back after another 7500 miles, which I think is too many miles, I just did my first oil change at around 5000.

I also could've sworn my oil temperature is now a bit higher than usual after the oil change, usually it stays at 200 after warming up. Now I'm noticing it is occasionally going beyond 200, not by much maybe 210 or so. I'm no expert so I don't know if that's a bad thing or what, just noticed that after the oil change. Any thoughts?

The manual states the change interval. There is normal and severe so see where you fit. I used to be in the normal but since retired and drive less, severe fits me.

Some dealers use synthetic blend. If you have the dealer doing the service, have it on record, you should still have warranty coverage since you did what the dealer said.

i've never found my Genesisconnect account to be properly updated when it comes to servicing. doesn't bother me, i retain hard copies for the service history. i kind of like the monthly "health reports" that i receive, but aside from that i do not get much from the online service. i may have had the app on my old phone but didn't even bother with it for the replacement. i don't have remote start capability since i'm 6MT.

I manually enter my oil changes into the App for dealers are not touching my car. I know exactly what is being done to my car this way by doing my own oil changes.

Well, that is disappointing. Those are such simple features, you would think a company that emphasizes too much on the luxury aspect would have these things working properly. Even the remote features are very unstable and either don't work half the time or take a while to work.

It depends on a minimum wage clerk at the dealership to do the data entry. Some do, some don't. My was done during the first 3 years but I don't see the latest service on there, but Carfax has it.

If your dealer is putting in semi-synthetic oil that's a bad sign. I have yet to get my first service but if I have any inkling it's not the SN+/SP full syn 0w-30 spec for my '22 2.0 I'll be switching it out ASAP.

How bad is it to get blend instead of full synthetic? I'm not really too car savvy.

You’ll likely get all sorts of opinions here but modern turbocharged engines require specific oils and almost all in the last 5+ years specify full synthetic. More importantly that’s what came from the factory. Your manual has the exact spec needed. Tough to say what might happen but it’s moot. They didn’t use what the car requires.

For a non-turbo not a big deal but I'd want full synthetic for a turbo. Short term, not a big deal but if you are keeping the car a long time there is potential for more wear.

I don't know that anyone can give a specific number of miles or anything else as there are many variable from driver to driver and car to car.

Dealer must use fluids which meet or exceed OE specs. In Canada i am not aware of anything less than fully synthetic that matches specs. Maybe US has other options. It would be easy enough to verify, so just look up the oil the dealer used. The service work order should list what they used.

My work order doesn't say exactly what they used, but the oil sticker they placed on my windshield said "quaker state". No idea if that's what they used or not. Apparently according to the manual it's supposed to be full synthetic, and if blend is used then I must change oil according to severe conditions, I gotta say I'm pretty pissed and disappointed, I literally bought my car from them and this is how they treat me. I would rather pay out of pocket next time for full synthetic.

^yup, i am not aware of any non-synthetic oil that matches the OE spec, which is why the OM stipulates full synthetic is required. Just wasn’t sure if this was also the case in the US - but that is confirmed.

Seems cut and dried: anything other than full synthetic matching OE specs does not comply with the Genesis OM.
