  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wondering if anyone knows if this will damage my car while driving in this mode, because the check engine light is on and all dealers around me are backed up for 3 weeks.

I don't think anyone can give an absolute answer. Depends on what the cause was. I'd certainly not plan on a long distance drive but two miles to work probably not a big deal. Yes, most dealers (all brands) are very busy these days.

In general, if the light is not flashing, you are okay to drive. If it is flashing, don't.

Is it really in limp home mode or just the engine light is on? If the car drives and accelerates normally, you probably have an emission related issue and driving it short term should be fine. If in limp mode and you have limited acceleration, limited RPMs and generally the car drives like crap, I would not drive it anymore than absolutely needed.

Last month I had an engine light come on in my 2018 G 80s 3.3. I felt power loss and rough idle. I assumed it was a coil pack and after the 3 wk wait it was repaired under warranty. I probably wouldn’t drive it. I did an on board diagnosis indicating that it at had a DTC notification. I’m assuming that fuel may still be being dumped into that non firing cylinder. My diagnosis was right it was the coil pack. Add another week for the part and the repair equals I wasn’t happy. Luckily I have another car, because there was no loaners. Genesis may reimburse you for a rental vehicle depending on the year and problem. Good luck, I hope this was helpful.

Call them back and tell them this is a safety issue. It at least needs to be checked with a Tech Tool to determine what is wrong. If they refuse, call the General Manager or dealership owner. I was refused service for the ABS issue. I went to visit the owner of the dealer. My car was fixed in 3 hours.

Update- this was all related to the TSB-20-BE-007H. I went back and started over with the repair. Checked every single wire and re-joined them and then checked every single fuse in all 3 fuse boxes. Everything now works with the exception of the back-up camera. But, I can shift normally now, speedomter works, car has same power, no check engine lights on, no warning lights etc. Clearly when I repaired the first time my wire nuts were not making a connection on one of the wires.
