  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

its been irritating me that the only mod ive seen for this car is the intake and the exhaust can someone let us know of any other ideas for mods for this car.

My signature would beg to differ and I just scratched the surface. You can go hog wild with body kits, air suspensions, etc but its just not what I'm looking for. I'll likely get coilovers once the BC's are ready and looking forward to the BTRcc tune release for the 4.6 (there is already a car running it).

does it bother me that people aren't turning a classy car into a gaudy monstrosity like we're 18 year old kids from the hood? no, not really.

Not the only performance mod either. I swapped on the Coupe Brembos. Next on my list is a Coupe 3.53:1 LSD differential to replace the 3.10:1 diff, should make things a bit more lively. Then you also have BTR's new tunes for the 4.6 and 3.8.

I am also talking with Track King Racing for a front splitter at bare minimum.

It's a very small group that would purchase this car to modify it. I share your frustration but I knew that going in. I enjoy modding something no one else does.

Yes, it definitively bothers me when people use "teaser" thread titles.

lol for the 3.9 and 4.6 your off to a lucky start with btr but for us 5.0 users we are basically at a standstill. as for body kits we cant add anything without customizing the body kit at least for 12' and newer models

The Genesis has a small production; and few owners frequent this forum. Still fewer are those willing to lay out $ for modifications. So, the market is very small.
Still there are some mods that work:
1. Intake - be careful about "cold air intake". Some I have seen are just a cone filter (K&N #1040 works just fine), which draws underhood air. OEM airbox is a cold air, just convoluted passage. Perhaps the best one can do until a true cold air is offered is a simple K&N replacement.
2. Bore out your throttle body - see www.maxbore.com. Did this with my RSpec for a modest gain.
3. Do the secondary cat delete - Motorsports Authority seems to have the best kit.
4. Change out rear mufflers for Dynomax VTs. Nice power gain with no drone. You can spend $$$ with Magnaflow and Borla, but you will have drone.
5. Someone someday may offer a ECU mod, which (IMHO) will only affect open loop at wide open throttle - basically leaning out a pig rich open loop mixture. Closed loop should remain stock.
6. Headers and cams are a pipe dream.
7. Want lots of noise - consider electrically-actuated exhaust cut outs.

I wouldn't even call the Genesis a small production run as I've seen a ton of sedans in my area over the years and to this day. I would say the enthusiast market for these cars is currently small but that will also change as these cars become less expensive and more of them hit the used market. A lot of first hand owners just aren't looking to modify $45k+ comfort oriented V8 sedans that have only been on the market for 5 years or so. While it wouldn't be reasonable to expect a potential market similar to Honda Civics (the price difference alone will ensure this), Hyundai did sell a good number of sedans over the years.

Wait, what? Is the coupe differential a direct fit for the 4.6? Could you please share a few details about this? I have not been interested in doing the ESC disable mod because the loss of the electronic LSD. A mechanical LSD changes things completely!

Differential housing part number of the Sedan and Coupe are identical.

An aftermarket Quaife/Tomei/Kaaz/etc LSD for the Genesis Coupe will work in the Sedan as well. Though I felt the 3.10:1 ratio in my Sedan needed to go, so used Coupe LSD diff it is for me.
