If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Does key fob need reprogramming after replacement of master window & door lock switch?

I have a 2013 Genesis Sedan 4.6L which started having intermittent problems with the driver side master switch for controlling windows, door lock and mirrors. It would sometimes not work and I'd give it a good whack on the side panel and it'll work again. I dismantled the whole thing to check for faulty connections, but nothing turned up.

At some point I decided to replace the entire master switch controls on the driver's door, so I got one from a junkyard. It was from a 2011 Genesis. Everything worked fine right away, then I realized it didn't come with a folding mirror button. So I went back to the junkyard and got a replacement unit which had all the buttons I was expecting.

But now, the key fob cannot lock/unlock the doors. When I press the unlock button, the turn signals flash and the car beeps but it doesn't unlock the vehicle. Same goes for the lock button. But the car starts just fine as usual.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

sounds like the replacement has a bad lock button to me.

the fob is controlled by it's own module, don't know what the Hyundai designation for it is, but GM called it a wireless door lock receiver module and Chrysler called it wireless ignition node module.

whatever the designation, it talks to the fob and then sends the command to the door lock switch/actuator.

if the locks are not working with the new switch I would bet it is the switch itself. A new switch appears pricey, not sure of your actual part number but 2010-2014 with folding mirror seems to be $250-$350 depending on the site.

ebay has a ton of pre-owned from legit wrecker yards, and they usually accept returns if it isn't working:

here is one, not sure if it matches your needs or not, but it is a starting point for you:
