  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So title. Our car has a 2010 engine in it since about 2 and a half years ago as my dads 2nd ex wife was an idiot and destroyed the original engine (for those interested, she ran over a large speed bump too fast and ripped the oil filter off and kept driving with no oil, yeah she was stupid but that’s besides the point)

So the VIN on the new engine comes back to a 2010. So I know for 2011 or mid year 2010 they bumped the 4.6 from 375 horsepower to 385 horsepower.

So does our car with a 2010 engine have 375 or 385 horsepower?

As far as I know my 2011 4.6 is 378 HP if I put 87 gas in. And it is 385 HP if I put premium 93 gas in. It is 7 horses difference.

If you really want to find out about your 2010 engine I would call Hyundai corporate with your VIN and ask them if you engine is updated one.

Thanks for the reply!

Did a little research and the car the engine came out of appears to have a bios date of April 18, 2010.

I’m seeing here in the forums that the change was done mid April 2010 or March 2010.
