  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does your keyless entry still work after installing an aftermarket alarm?

I can't seem to get a straight answer on this one... Just picked up a 2013 genesis track and would like to install a remote start/two way alarm (Viper 5806v) and can't get a straight answer from the installers about whether such an installation would render the keyless entry useless. In other words, I'd like to know whether I can arm or disarm an alarm using the button in the door handle or whether I'd need to use the car alarm fob every time.

The answers I'm getting (even from a master certified technician) is either "yes" or "maybe but be prepared to lose that feature." I wonder if it's a matter of programming the bypass module properly.

Can anyone with an aftermarket alarm and factory keyless entry advise? Thanks!

Would also like to know the answer to this. Still have a Clifford unit in the box I never installed on my S13.

Ok so here is the result of my research, after speaking with Hyundai service (in NYC where alarms are common), a master certified bestbuy alarm installer, and a master certified technician at Compustar (Viper customer service is non-existent), it appears that there is not a way to retain the functions of a smart key/button on door handle without tripping an aftermarket alarm.

However, I am told that one workaround is to go with a Compustar system and add on "EZgo" that arms and disarms/locks and unlocks a Compustar alarm if you are within a few feet of the car, thus allowing you to leave your keys in your pocket at all times, if that option pleases you.
