  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For better of for worse, I got myself a light colored leather interior. My conflict is that I've also got an English bulldog, which is one of the most slimy, scratchy, misbehaved-and-won't-stay-put, and also one of the most loveable can't-leave-behind breeds on the planet. I know I'm going to get raked over the coals for even suggesting having a dog in this car, but....

Does anybody have any recommendations or suggestions for temporary dog-safe seat covers and/or dog protection for the center console, door panels, back seat, etc.? I hate to think that I have to make the choice of car interior or road trip with best friend.

I too have a bulldog that rides in my Denali most everyday. He rides in the back seat. My solution for seat protection is I purchased some heavy vinyl the same color as my seats. I then placed the vinyl over the bottom of the seat and tucked it under the seat back. the vinyl piece is much larger than the seat and just lays out on the rear floor. Another solution is to use a pet carrier. I found the vinyl at Hancock Fabrics.

Another solution you can use is yoga mats. Those offer great protection and dont cost a ton.

One more thing you can investigate is this: http://www.amazon.com/HDP-Harness-Safety-Travel-System/dp/B000XKSUD6

It would allow the dog minimum mobility while in the car. We use this for one of our unruly ones who attacks the wipers and AC system. Probably to save our lives or some stupid crap. All I know is the less he can move around, the better lol

How about keeping him in the trunk............... :=) :=) :=)

No pets allowed in my car.

If he moves around the best bet is to keep him immobile and SAFE!

Get the ONLY harness in the world that passed the crash tests for dogs. Go to the Centre for Pet Safety to see the crash tests (www.centerforpetsafety.org). They will scare the crap out of you! They use crash test dummy dogs that weigh as much as 90lb. A dog flying forward from the back seat, in a crash, can take your head off, not to mention killing the dog! All of the other popular harnesses failed the test.

The harness is by SleepyPod (www.sleepypod.com) out of California. The owner lost his dog in a crash and spent 2 years developing this harness. The dog can sit and lie down and that's it! They are not that expensive and can be ordered online or from a local store (store locator on the web site). They sell a lot of other items too (travel cases, beds).

I just put a blanket on the seat, buckle him in and, after he realizes he can't move around, he lies down. The harness doubles as walking harness too. It the easiest harness to put on too.

I have no interest in the company, but really care about my dog.
