Hey guys new member here I been looking at a used 2009 genesis 4.6 gold exterior an tan and brown interior. It has 112 thousand miles on it an they are asking 13999. Is this a decent price. The genesis with that many miles on it what should I look for. Some main points to check out. Please help me out to make a good decision. I'm nervous I have owned lexus an infiniti an its in the family, so I'm a little nervous about getting a korean car but its so nice an seems like they have stepped up there quality. It looks super clean inside and out. A little worried since its a rwd an it snows a lot here during winter but I do own a gs400 an its rwd n I managed fine. The lady at the dealer said she has driven in it during snow an the traction system is very advanced in it an get around just fine. Anyways with it having 112 k on it I'm worried idk how long the engine and transmission will run without problems. Please give me all the advice possible.

With that kind of mileage, it's as much about the previous owner's driving behavior and maintenance as anything else. Get service records, have have a knowledgeable and trustworthy independent mechanic check out the car really thoroughly. Was it leased, sold to another buyer (or two), maintained, owned by one person, driven by somebody professional, mature, responsible, etc., or modified, driven hard, and then returned to stock. In some cases, that's all right, but in many others, no so.

These can be 200,000 mile cars if they are driven and maintained well. However, you still should know what a rebuilt ZF transmission costs, because that can happen on any car.

Personally, I wouldn't buy ANY car that didn't have a warranty on it. At age 23 you would be much better off buying a two-year-old car with at least one year remaining (minimum) on a bumper to bumper warranty.

119,000 on my 2011 4.6 and its still drives like new. That being said, preventive maintenance is very important. I use synthetic oil, changed every 5000 miles. Transmission service is a must if you want to go 200k+ miles. Service on the ZF transmission should be done by dealer and is not cheap(600.00+) Rear Diff oil should be changed and the 2 flex disc on the driveshaft need checking. Also the center driveshaft bearing support needs checking. make sure it has had all TSBs done and Recalls done.
