  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone, I have a 2009 4.6 Genesis with the Tech package. The issue that I'm having is that in about 95% of the cases I can't unlock the doors when I press the unlock/lock button on the door handle. I have tried both key fobs on both doors and I get the same results. I have no issue turning the car on or unlocking the trunk with the fob in my pocket. The only way I can unlock the doors is by pressing the unlock button the fob. I took the car in to the dealer last Friday and they told me that the left door handle needs to be replaced. It just seems odd that the left door handle is bad when the problem is with both doors unless the left door handle controls all doors. Has anyone had this issue and if so how was it resolved?

thanks, Hernando

If the dealer told you "that the left door handle needs to be replaced" then I presume that is what is needed to resolve the problem.

Nando,

I had the exact same problem, although it was when the driver door sat in the hot sun for a while. Even though you could not unlock using the right side door, the electronics is all controlled from the left side.

Would always function by the time I got to the dealer, even if I parked in the sun. I have a great Hyundai Service Department, and an even greater Genesis Technician, who talked with Hyundai. They authorized him to change the driver door handle. I no longer have the problem.

Let your dealer change that left side door handle.
