Getting familiar with the group...
In keeping with the desire to get more dealership info out, I wanted to share my experiences, so far, with Doten Hyundai of Richmond, California.
First, I should make it clear that I have not purchased a car from them at this time.
My interactions with the dealer have been with their sales department, and very brief. I took a 4.6 Tech for a test drive a couple weeks ago, and the experience was very good. It was a lazy afternoon, and I went to the dealership with my wife and a friend. We were on the lot for less than ten minutes, and clearly looking at the Genesis, when a sales associate asked us if we wanted the car unlocked, so that we could look inside. I said yes, and we checked the car out, inside and out for about 5 or ten minutes. The sales associate then asked me if I wanted to take it for a test drive, to which I said, "Sure!" He took my drivers license inside (I never left the lot), and was back 60 seconds later. He backed the car out, and told us to have a good time. We left and took the car on a drive for about 15-20 minutes. It was the best test drive that I have been on in the sense that we were really able to check the car out, and have a frank discussion about it, instead of dealing with a sales person (no matter how nice they are, it is hard to relax with them along for the ride). We took the car back, and our sales associate encouraged us to go drive the competition. No pressure at all, just a very relaxed and pleasant afternoon. Given how great my experience was, when I am ready to get the car, I will definitely give them the first crack at earning my business. At this point, I'd even go so far as to say that I would pay a little bit more (although not much, let's be reasonable here) to do business with them for the twin reasons of how cool they have been, and the fact that they are very close for me, and I like establishing local relationships whenever possible.
If anybody else here has worked with them, I'd be happy to hear your experiences, especially with the service department.
