Dragging stuff behind front bumper

All the junk behind the front bumper drags on the wheel stops in parking lots, or curbs. bends out of shape....shoved it back few times. now try to avoid the wheel stops, but No problem anymore! Going across west Texas at 80 PH (the speed limit there) pieces kept vibrating then falling off the car until I reached Odessa, where the transmission splash shield started dragging on the highway...found a dealer there and they removed the shield at no cost...good people. No more problems with the crap under the car, 'cause it went away...scattered across west Texas!!!!! My daughter's Lacrosse has the same dragging problem! Engineering at it's finest!

Most luxury cars have the feature you don't like. My Acura did, my Mercedes does as does my mother-in-law's caddy. Also most lux cars are low and the covers you lost help reduce noise, greatly improve fuel economy and protect components. You should have it all replaced before something flies up from the road and hits a vital electrical connection or component which could be costly and or disable the car.

there's nothing there to blow off, it's all gone and it broke up into small pieces..but thanks !!

Manufacturers don't spend money needlessly and I doubt that anything that fell off was government required. I expect that the engineers saw the neccesity for it. I would replace it and try to avoid the curbs in the future. Just my oppinion.

Most new cars are going with the enclosed engine compartment. This helps reduce drag on the car and improves down draft by providing a smooth flow of air under the car. This increases fuel economy and helps stabilize the car at higher speeds. It also provides some protection from objects on the road being picked up and thrown into the engine while driving. Which could possible damage the engine.

I wonder if you did damage the engine due to something hitting the engine because the protective shield is missing, if Hyundai could deny the warranty due to you "modifying" the car.

All that plastic was put there for a reason. Rather than removing it, I would have it all replaced. Just learn how not to drive over curbs and parking barriers.
