  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,

I've had my Genesis for about a month or so and wanted to see if's normal operation to select ECO from the drive mode button every time you start the car up. I was thinking in my ignorance that once I set ECO it would remember that the next time I drive the car?

Thanks in advance,
AJ

nope. you have to select it after each startup. I agree its silly.

Beyond silly, considering the fix is software. In fact, I'm surprised the car does not default to ECO, as that would have given them better MPG classification?

Hi All,

Thanks for your feedback, yes it doesn't make sense having to select a drive mode every time you start the car. I wonder if there's a way to provide feedback to Hyundai on it?

Cheers,
AJ

After a couple months of driving I forgot it even has drive modes. I just drive in the default. Car seems to do whatever I need in that mode. I average around 22-23mpg per tank with all kinds of driving.

same here. I wonder if someone has done a comparison of MPG driving the car in eco vs normal. I am guess its negligible.

I'm glad the default is not the eco mode. The shift points there make driving in traffic or around town an unpleasant experience. A potential small increase
in mpg is not worth it to me.

Initially, I used sport mode for in town driving but now keep it in the regular mode; seems that the software has learned my shift preferences or maybe I've learned the cars!!!

I think the difference from normal to sport is much more noticeable than the difference between normal and eco.

X2. My experience is that the mpg difference between normal and eco is negligible and about 2 mpg less in sport. I like sport much better for driving in heavy traffic. The quicker throttle response and keeping a higher gear allows me to maneuver much easier.
