  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Driver seat shifts with sudden change of momentum

As the title states, my driver seat shifts with sudden change of momentum, i.e. quick turns or hard braking/acceleration. I can hear a tiny "click" sound when the seat moves, and it can't be more than 2-3mm of travel. Probably happens 1 our of 5 times, so I finally dropped it off at the dealer this morning.

Couldn't find anyone reporting similar issues on this forum, but the dealer said they've seen a few cars in the past year.

This is my 1st visit to service, as my car is less than 2 months old. They were very professional and provide a loaner vehicle, something I've been spoiled by Infiniti with for the past 12 years.

I also had them look at the weather stripping and chrome window trim on the driver door, as it looks to be misaligned. Hopefully everything is fixed today.

Keep us posted. This is a new one I haven't heard of before. No issues here.

funny you should bring this up. on my car if i take a sharp right turn i occasionally feel something shift in the seat bottom cushion. in fact you can even hear a slight noise when this happens...almost like a click. it seems like it's something within the seat and not the entire seat shifting on it's rails. oddly enough it never happens when i take a fast left turn.

if they find something definitely keep us informed!

we are facing it in Saudi Arabia 90% of genesis cars have that since 2015

It's so funny that somebody mentions this. It started for me a few days ago. But it mainly happens to me when I am going up a very steep parking garage incline.

About 1-2mm. But I can feel it. It happens about 25% of the time when I go up or down that kind of steep incline.

I had this issue with my 2007 Infiniti M35. I have long legs and had to put the seat all the way back to the stops. I always felt like I could rock it from there 1-2mm.

But in the Genny, no such issues...

I could feel very slight movement like this (and a clicking sound) in my 2015 at times (hard braking or acceleration), but I never got around to getting it looked into as I had bigger issues. No such problem in the 2016, though.

So far my '15 is OK, but I remember, that was the problem with Santa Fe '13+ I used to own, they had to replace the rails under the seat.

Maybe the parts were made after lunch :D

Well of course dealer couldn't find a problem and confirmed all the seat bolts were tightly secure.

After reading other replies here, it's definitely a click within the seat cushion or seat assembly, not the rails. I still feel it every now and then, and will keep an eye on this thread if a fix is found by someone else.

interestingly enough, i raised my seat just a smidge and the click/shift feel disappeared! i typically have my seat front and back of bottom cushion down as far as it will go in most vehicles i've owned. lifting the seat just a bit seems to have cured the issue. may be worth a try.

I also had the little click (which I could feel as well ever so slightly) when making a sharp turn and mentioned it to the dealer last year and naturally they found nothing wrong. Since then I've adjusted my seat several different ways and I don't believe I've heard/ felt it since. I quite frankly forgot about it until running across this thread.
It may be worth it to try some slight adjustments to your seat to see if it makes a difference.

Same issue on mine. Is there a TSB on this driver cushion shifting thing yet?

Sometimes my 2016 on sharp turns gives me a little thump in the backside & sometimes
there is a small noise when it happens. Not every time but just enough to be a little annoying.
I am curious if anyone gets a solution before I get told by my dealer
"No fault found". My car has the extendable lower seat cushion
& I have it set all the way forward for maximum under leg support.
I have my seat set quite high as I am only 5'8.
